Pregnancy in cats - its duration and course

The instinct of procreation is present in all living beings. And such pets as cats are also among them. There is always a moment when a young cat from an ordinary playful kitten turns into an adult. In cats, this moment occurs 7-9 months after birth. This immediately becomes noticeable in her behavior. The female begins to demand more affection from the owner, and her meowing becomes appealing and plaintive. She also starts walking with knees bent and rubbing against people and objects. And one who is familiar with the habits of cats, understands that the female has reached sexual maturity and wants to become a mother.

But do not immediately start looking for your cat "groom". It is necessary to give it to the mother's body to get stronger and to postpone the first meeting with the male to a later period. And when the female turns one and two months old she will be completely ready to fulfill her maternal duty. And then after a successful "contact" comes the pregnancy in cats. However, on such early terms of external signs of pregnancy it is not visible. But the cat's "interesting position" can easily be determined by its behavior.

The cat during this period becomes more calm, it starts to sleep more and eat less. In the morning she is weak and lazy, also the cat constantly asks her owner to caress her. And if the house is inhabited by other four-legged, then she begins to take care of them. But it happens that aggression manifests itself in her behavior. This behavior is inherent in females at the very beginning of the term. And then a natural question arises, - what is the duration of pregnancy in cats?

With great accuracy, this question can not be answered. The average pregnancy in cats lasts about nine weeks. But such a deadline is not standard. Ocot can occur as earlier for a week, and a week later. True, premature kittens are born weak and they rarely survive. Also this term for short-haired and long-haired breeds is also slightly different. Breeds with short hair usually give birth to kittens 4-5 days earlier than long-haired cats. The number of future offspring also affects the duration of pregnancy . If the female wears more than five kittens, then she may have an early childbirth. And if the cubs are less, then the lambing time can be prolonged.

But to determine the exact time of lambing, it is not enough to know how much pregnancy lasts in cats. After all, not all cats are sufficiently "educated" and it is not always possible to control the moment of conception of kittens. And the first signs of pregnancy inexperienced koshatnik can write off on feline "malaise" or for other reasons. But in 20-30 days, when the female is rounded and her nipples begin to peel, it becomes clear that she will soon become a mother. This can be checked if you turn on your back. In addition, early in the pregnant female, vomiting occurs. This is quite normal and it is not necessary to raise panic.

And somewhere in the middle of the term embryos grow to such a size that they can already be probed. This is done by gentle pressing on the abdominal cavity of the female. Caution is necessary here to show the greatest, otherwise sharp and strong pressing can lead to a miscarriage. But this method is suitable only to confirm pregnancy in cats. And to find out how many kittens she will have in such a way is difficult.

And when the sixth week comes, the belly of the pregnant woman becomes already noticeable, especially if she has several babies. Then the cat's pregnancy lasts more actively. Embryos begin to develop intensely, and after seven weeks they begin to move. At this time, their heads are already probed. Yes, and "mother" also become restless. The cat begins to look for a place in which she can calmly settle. And in the ninth week of pregnancy, her mammary glands grow to such a size that the nipples protrude. It becomes less active and detached. Then it is already clear that soon the cat will bring offspring.
