Player of the Russian national hockey team Sergei Lomanov

At the end of 2016, the coaching staff of the Russian national hockey team announced the composition of the team for the upcoming World Cup. The published list caused a lot of controversy, because it lacked the legendary striker Sergei Lomanov. Despite his age, 36 years old, the Russian is in excellent shape, and not all fans supported the decision of the coaches.

Hockey youth in Sweden

Sergey Sergeevich Lomanov was born on June 2, 1980 in Krasnoyarsk. Being the son of a famous player of the USSR national hockey team, Sergei Ivanovich Lomanov, at the age of 5, he got into skates. At the age of 7, the young hockey player was enrolled in the school at the local club "Yenisei". But, having studied for two years in Krasnoyarsk, in 1989 he went with his father to Sweden, where he trained at the school at the club "Sirius" from the city of Uppsala.

In 1995, Sergei Lomanov - junior again had to move because of his father - after finishing his career in "Sirius", Sergei Ivanovich returned to his homeland, where he became the head coach of the "Yenisei", where his son also got. For the first two years, the young talent of hockey with the ball played in the youth team, but his rapid growth and high performance (36 goals in 33 meetings) allowed him already in 17 years to be the basis of the Krasnoyarsk club.

Coming to the "Yenisei"

Starting to play under the guidance of his father in the adult field, Sergei Lomanov brightly differed among the other players in his boldness to go into the stroke and take the game for himself, as well as mastering the stick and the high speed of moving across the ice. But because of the presence of more experienced fighters in the composition, the young Russian did not always play from the first minutes of the meeting. At the end of the first season, Lomanov recorded 29 goals in 40 games at his own expense, leaving a pleasant impression of himself not only with his father and coach, but also with the fans.

As a result, every year Sergei Lomanov received more and more playing time on the field and proved his consistency with excellent results, so that for two seasons the "Yenisei" was a step from the first line in the Russian championship and twice took the Cup of the country. But in 2001, the Krasnoyarsk team also received gold - the team confidently took first place in the Eastern Group, and in the playoffs did not leave any chance to any of the contenders, defeating the winner of the Western Group - Arkhangelsk Vodnik. The same year brought "Yenisei" victory in the European Cup.

The next three seasons in the composition of the Krasnoyarsk team also proved to be no less successful for Sergei. Despite the presence of only one national trophy, the Cup of Russia, the striker from year to year demonstrated incredible results, having an average of three points per game at the end of the season.

Moscow career stage

Successful performance, both in the club and in the Russian national team, made the striker "Yenisei" one of the most valuable players of the championship, and in 2005 he managed to entice the capital's Dynamo. As part of the Moscow team, Sergei Lomanov spent only three seasons, but during this time managed to collect a whole lot of awards, without reducing personal results.

For the "blue and white" Russian spent 115 matches, scoring 230 goals and making 123 assists. This success helped "Dynamo" three seasons in succession to become the champion of Russia, and also to win two World Cups among clubs, to win in the Cup of the country and the Cup of European champions. But in 2008, Sergei Lomanov decided to return to Krasnoyarsk.

Return

The fans accepted the return of the local legend with great joy, which Lomanov himself answered already in the first season, punching 55 goals in the championship and 27 in the cup matches. A year later, a fantastic value in 73 goals in the championship again made Sergei the best forward of the Russian championship, the club's record for the number of goals scored for the season, and also returned the Yenisei to the pedestal (bronze was won).

In 2012 and 2013, the Krasnoyarsk team again celebrated the bronze medals of the championship, and since 2014 the not deteriorating game Lomanova has made for fans an incredible surprise in the form of three championship seasons in a row. To these trophies in 2015 was added also the victory in the World Cup. However, in the spring of 2016 the hockey player announced his resignation from the "Yenisei".

Moving to Sweden

The new club for Sergey was Swedish "Venersborg". In his interview Lomanov stressed that the main reason for leaving the Krasnoyarsk team was the desire to play in the closed arenas due to a number of micro-traumas. However, in two years the Russian intends to return to Krasnoyarsk, when they will build a covered stadium to continue to shine in his native club. As Sergey Lomanov himself stated, hockey with the ball is a real hobby for him, and after the completion of his career the player plans to train young people in his home club, "Yenisei".

Game for the Russian national team

In 2001, to the delight of the majority of the fans, Sergey Lomanov was invited to the World Cup in the national team. Hockey, demonstrated by a Russian, attracted the attention of the coaching staff, and in the same year the debut of the Russian goleader took place, which turned out to be incredibly successful. According to the results of the world championship Lomanov was the best scorer of the national team, having thrown 13 goals, thanks to which Russia became the owner of gold medals.

Later Sergey became one of the key players of the national team, taking part in the world championships every year. For 15 years of participation in the games of the national team, Lomanov became the most titled hockey player in the world, having won the world championship nine times. Three times the Russian was recognized as the best player of the tournament, and 6 times - the best striker. But in 2016 Lomanov Jr. did not qualify for the World Cup 2017, which the coach of the team, Sergey Miaus, explained by the desire to give the young people a chance to prove themselves. The hockey player himself noted that he does not refuse to play for Russia and is ready to accept the offer to return to the national team.
