Despite the fact that many skeptics claimed that it was impossible to quickly create Russia's payment system, it earned only 3 years after the start of the project. The project was carried out in the shortest possible time thanks to the efforts of thousands of people involved in it. And now the Russian Federation can not depend on the systems "Visa" and "MasterCard". The payment system "PRO100" has already issued more than a million cards. Moreover, existing Sberbank cards can also work in the system.

Why is the PRO100 system necessary?

The dependence of Russian banks on Visa and MasterCard payment systems was noted by the Central Bank in 2013, when problems with them did not yet exist. Domestic economists expressed concern that the management of such cards, which in the country was more than 90% of the total, is in charge of foreign financial institutions. Since then, work on the national payment system (NPC) has been given much more attention than before. Although PS UEC (payment system "Universal electronic card") "PRO100" was registered as a Russian operator in 2012. At present, such cards, functioning on M / Chip technology (easily compatible with the generally accepted standards of MasterCard when banking structures are developed by the banking structures), can be paid in most outlets of Russia and domestic banks.

"Simple" and NPC

It was believed that the payment system "PRO100" will eventually become a true national payment system. However, in April 2014, the Central Bank made a statement about the impossibility of this. So far neither the Russian payment system "PRO100" nor any other domestic PS can become national for a reasonably simple reason. All of them are used for the work of the program, the license for which belongs to MasterCard. And although the issue of chips for cards is made in Russia, applications for them are made abroad. This was done for the convenience of combining old standards with new ones. Indeed, the transition from Visa and MasterCard to "PRO100" was fairly easy, but it was not possible to make the NPS from it.

Features of the "PRO100"

In the capacity of the person, who has the "PRO100" card (Sberbank), is:

Types of cards

In the system "PRO100" (Sberbank), there are several types of payment cards: debit (settlement), payroll (one of the types of which may be corporate), credit and pension (social). All of them are serviced by the Russian Sberbank and several other Russian banking institutions. In order to accept the card, the bank should be included in the number of organizations participating in the PRO100 system.

The "PRO100" credit cards are not issued by all the banks participating in the system, so to guarantee their receipt it is worth to contact Sberbank or clarify the possibility and conditions for issuing them by other banks on the websites of these organizations.

How to get a card?

To obtain a standard universal card, you should:

• Apply to Sberbank;
• Present all necessary documents (including passport, insurance certificate of SNILS and MHI policy);
• Fill out an application for a card and put a personal signature;
• Get a card on the day of treatment.

The "PRO100" card (Sberbank) may be issued by other participating banks, the issuance dates for which may differ. Pay for it is not necessary, and the validity period is 5 years.

Banks in the system

To date, the payment system "PRO100" of Sberbank includes (in addition to the country's main bank) 19 more participants. And due to the fact that they own more than 2/3 of the total number of ATMs located on the territory of the Russian Federation, it is quite convenient to use the system.

The system includes: the Bank of Moscow, AB Russia, Center-Invest, Moscow Industrial Bank, Khakass Municipal Bank, Surgutneftegazbank, Almazergienbank, ABB Bank, Khanty-Mansiysk Bank, Severny Kredit and several others. All of them do not take a commission for receiving money through their ATMs. When withdrawing funds from the "PRO100" card using a terminal of a bank that is not part of the system, a commission may be charged in the amount determined by the organization that issued the card.

"PRO100" in the Crimea

Since recently, the payment system "PRO100" works in the Crimea, as well as in Sevastopol. Project emission in the region began in May 2014. And by 2015 the total number of cards has exceeded half a million. At the same time, the system is still the only and uncontested option for the peninsula, because as a result of the US sanctions, MasterCard and Visa do not operate here. To withdraw money from the "PRO100" card in Crimea, it is possible with the help of more than 350 ATMs, 240 bank branches and a number of terminals that have been reprogrammed for the operation of a number of terminals exceeding 1500.

Credits for the system "PRO100"

After the "PRO100" payment system was introduced, a part of the population of Russia had questions about the possibility of using it abroad. Other users are also interested in other issues related to these cards.

To date, the only currency that the PS uses (and in which, accordingly, it is possible to keep money on the account of "PRO100") is the ruble. This means that with their help you can neither pay abroad nor conduct any currency transactions. However, experts do not consider this feature of the card a major drawback. According to them, if desired, any Russian citizen traveling abroad can withdraw money from the account and exchange them here at a more favorable rate. Then, having left the country, it would be necessary to transfer rubles into other currencies using less attractive offers from foreign banks and exchange offices.

And yet, about the need to use other currencies, say the comments of users about the "PRO100". According to them, a system that is not compatible with the main world (and not only Russian) banking structures, does not deserve attention.

So far, to implement the plans that could satisfy users, there is not enough technical capacity, no infrastructure, no specialists able to program and debug the PRO100 equipment. And to introduce the system to be first in the territory of Russia, providing software, personnel and processing centers. It may take more than one year, and after completion, it is not necessary that domestic technologies will be compatible with foreign ones. Perhaps, for this reason, some users, guided by feedback from other customers or their experience, will continue to use the MasterCard and Visa systems, which so definitely did not leave Russia.
