Painting on the fabric - batik

Painting on the fabric - this is an ancient art that allows you to create unique works. This kind of art processing of fabrics goes to the countries of Southeast Asia - Japan, China, Indonesia. Old masters often painted silk, on which strange birds and flowers came to life. Fabrics brought to Europe with hand painted were very highly appreciated, only aristocracy could afford them. The technique of painting on cloth began to develop in Europe only in the 20s of the last century. All kinds of manual work on dyeing fabrics are called "batik". This word came from Indonesia, it means literally "a drop on the fabric." There are different techniques for creating drawings on fabrics.

Hot batik

This is the most complex method of painting and one of the most ancient. To create a multi-colored pattern, the desired areas are treated with wax and dipped in a hot dye. Under the wax drops, the fabric does not change its color, therefore, painting a part of the pattern in one tone, again apply wax lines and color the next color. And so many times, until you get a complex pattern. Such a painstaking work on one canvas can last for weeks. The finished fabric is stretched to dry and the wax is finally removed.

Cold batik

In this technique, a contour of the pattern is applied with a special composition (reserve) , inside which the fabric is painted in different colors. Only after applying all the colors, the fixing composition is removed and the contour is drawn. To get a quality painting on the fabric, it is usually stained on both sides.

Batik batik

This method is available to everyone. It is very simple - knots are knotted before staining. You can do this in a chaotic manner, but you can think of a special drawing. The fabric thus prepared is subjected to boiling in a color solution. This method is suitable only for fabrics that withstand high temperatures.

Painting on fabric with airbrush or acrylic paints

This is a modern technique, it requires special acrylic paints for fabrics. They can be applied with a normal brush or with the help of an airbrush. When performing drawings in this way, you can use different stencils or Stamps, you can instead apply plants and small items. Working with an airbrush requires certain skills. It allows you to get a very delicate, translucent layer of paint and it is therefore often used by professionals to create original works. Having finished painting on the fabric with acrylic paints, apply a fixer and dry the canvas properly. These paints are better used for dense fabrics, as well as for leather and suede.

Painting on wet cloth

Similar work is very unusual - the colors smoothly flow from one tone to another, the effect of the airiness of the picture is obtained. Canvas can first be kept in saline solution to prevent ugly stains.

Modern designers for the creation of unique models of clothing are turning to new technologies, allowing to create a printed method of painting on the fabric. The photo, transferred to the silk cloth, became a fashionable technique for leading couturiers.
