One version of the investigation was that Navalny stole the picture of Sotov in one of the streets of Vladimir, where its author hung out his paintings. However, Navalny himself claimed that he did not kidnap the picture, as he was presented to her on the birthday of Georgy Alburov, an investigative officer of the Anti-Corruption Fund . Navalny said that it was his colleagues who should be searched, since he is completely uninvolved in the commission of the crime.

It is also important that Navalny is a political, as well as a public figure of Russia, leader of the Progress party. A lot of criminal cases are connected with his name, and at the time of seizure of the picture he was under house arrest.

Sergei was asked why he did not go to the police, to which the author replied that he did not want to waste his time searching for his work.

Later a version appeared that Arthur Omarov, whose people interviewed the author of the picture, pushed Sotov to change the decision. This assumption is based on the fact that the search of the Navalny's house was held the day after the interview.

Later Sergei wrote a statement to Navalny, who, in his opinion, was the kidnapper of the "Bad Good Man." However, the video recorded the day before, could cause the closure of the criminal case brought against Navalny.

The picture "Bad good man" has become quite famous, and many people know it well and remember it precisely because of the criminal case opened because of her abduction from the author.
