Paint for road marking: GOST, technical data, consumption

To ensure the safety and expand the capacity of roads on them, a certain marking is applied. And that it was preserved in any climatic conditions, a special paint is used for road marking, which is selected for the specific climate and road conditions of a particular region.

What is used for markup

Modern road marking is applied with the help of special resistant paints, thermoplastics, spray-plastics, thermoplastic tapes and cold plastics. All this meets the requirements of GOST, but in most cases special enamels are used, which differ in chemical composition and application technology, as well as in the length of their service life.

Paint for road marking is a complex material, which contains many components in the form of pigments, fillers, polymers, plasticizers, special additives and solvents. Each of these additives has its own meaning, but in general their task is to ensure the strength and reliability of the coating. In addition, the composition must comply with environmental regulations.

Features of application

Depending on the application technology, all marking materials are divided into two classes - applied in the cold or hot state.

The first include paints and enamels, which are based on organic solvents, cold plastics and water-dispersion paints. A hot method of marking involves the use of thermoplastic and thermoplastic yellow ribbons, which are glued to the asphalt with a gas burner at a temperature of 5 to 35 degrees.

Cold compositions are recommended for use when marking up areas of large wear, for example, at pedestrian crossings. Such plastics will last about two years. And if the movement is more intense, it is required to use those materials that are applied by the hot method.

Acrylic road acrylic AK-511

This is one of the most popular paints for marking the roadway and streets. The coating can be operated in a temperate continental climate. The paint itself consists of pigments and fillers in combination with various modifying additives. This composition is fully compliant with GOST R 52575-2006, which regulates the use of paints for the treatment of public roads.

Road paint dries quickly, has a high level of light fastness and a coefficient of brightness, which serves as a guarantee of visibility of marking at any time of day. In addition, it has excellent adhesion, wear resistance, resistance to moisture and various chemical compounds.

Enamel can be used with retroreflective glass beads, which increases the reflective properties of the coating. Road paint is applied to a dry and clean surface, if necessary, it can be diluted with a solvent.

The greatest effect of light reflection is achieved by using, in combination with enamel, retroreflective elements, which are already applied over the paintwork. Advantages of using this composition include:

  • Conformity of coverage to the requirements of GOST R 52575-2006;
  • Resistance to external factors;
  • Rapid application;
  • Improving the functional properties of road marking.

The average material consumption is 3.5-4 kg / m 2 , provided that the thickness of the layer is not more than 2.5 mm.

"Technonikol AK" (enamel)

This paint for road marking is a one-component paint material that is applied in a cold way. In its composition - highly disperse pigments and fillers.

"Technikol" does not need to be bred, so it is completely ready for use. With its help, it is possible to apply horizontal markings on the roadway, on asphalt concrete and concrete coverings. The paint is supplied in several modifications, specially designed for the scope of application - it can be federal, regional or inter-municipal roads, as well as other roads and sidewalks.

The recommended flow rate of this paint is from 400 g / m² to 700 g / m², depending on what type of substrate.

Enamel AC-5307 "Line"

This paint for road marking is white. It is used for the application of safety lines on asphalt and concrete pavement. The set of composition includes retroreflective balls, which provide a luminescence marking - the luminance coefficient at the same time is 80%. In addition to white, the enamel can be supplied in yellow, red or black. This paint has the following features:

  • You can apply markup to any destination;
  • Thanks to the high brightness, the markings are visible even in the dark;
  • You can use enamel on any marking machines;
  • High adhesion;
  • Fast drying.

Indecoat-511

Widely used and paint for road marking - Indecoat-511. The composition of this coating is a combination of pigments, fillers and targeted additives.

Operation of the applied marking is possible in a wide temperature range - from -40 ° to +60 ° С. The production of this paint is carried out using advanced technologies based on imported raw materials, which guarantees its increased wear resistance and whiteness. Use Indecoat-511 can be used for marking concrete and cement coatings.

In the basic version, the paint is available in white, but it is possible to perform in yellow, orange, red and black colors. The single-layer coating accounts for approximately 300-400 g / m².

Reflective Materials

To ensure that the yellow color is clearly visible and in bright sunlight and dark at night, in any weather, special reflective glass micro beads are added to it. They are applied to the paint and refract the light coming from the headlights, reflecting it from a different angle so that it does not get into the eyes of the drivers. Such microballoons are applied in several ways:

  • Are introduced inside the marking material in a volume of up to 20%;
  • They are poured over the applied marking in the volume of 200-300 g / m²;
  • Are applied by a combination of both methods.

The dried layer of paint in the marking is approximately 150-300 microns, so the size of the balls should correspond to this value.

Cold plastic

Innovative road technologies lead to the fact that for the marking not the asphalt paint is used, but the cold plastic. The use of such a composition is rational due to its high wear resistance and the ability to operate continuously in any climatic conditions. The marking applied by paints will last for a maximum of 2 years, while the life of cold plastic is much higher.

Not so long ago in our country did not produce such materials, but today you can find the compositions of domestic production, but with the use of imported raw materials. We offer an overview of the most popular cold plastics today:

  1. "Maksidur". It is a white compound that hardens on the surface in just 30 minutes. To increase the visibility of marking in the dark and cloudy weather, the coating is complemented by glass microballoons.
  2. Technoplast. This material allows you to apply thick-layer markings - stop lines, noise lines, pedestrian crossings, direction arrows and much more. The distinctive features of this plastic include high wear resistance, a variety of color solutions, the ability to add glass beads.

With a coating thickness of 2 mm, an average of 3.5-4.0 kg / m² of material is used.

Hot method of marking

Marking is a process that requires a careful approach to materials and technologies. In addition to paints and cold plastic, thermoplastic paint and varnish materials can be used for this purpose. They are attractive due to the increase in the thickness of the applied layer and, consequently, its higher service life. On the other hand, thermoplastics are more expensive, so they are used mainly in areas where the wear rate is very high. Such marking is exclusively mechanized. Among the popular thermoplastics we can mention:

  1. "Marker" - this thermoplastic paint is yellow, which is a loose mixture of white color based on petroleum polymer resins, plasticizers, synthetic rubber and mineral fillers. With the help of this composition, it is possible to apply horizontal road markings on highways that have traffic intensity and high load.
  2. «Megoplast-Premium». This thermoplastic is used in the application of axial marking lines, stop lines and arrows on the road surface. It has high resistance to temperature changes and abrasion. To apply the material, marking machines are used on a dry surface.

The consumption of thermoplastic for coating thickness of 3-5 mm - 8-10 kg / m².
