Overview of the car Fiat Uno

Italy is famous not only for its high cuisine, but also for powerful sports cars, such as Ferrari, Maserati and Aflia Romeo. But few people know that all these companies belong to the concern "Fiat". In the 80's, this enterprise produced the first compact mini-car Fiat Uno in its history. The car was so successful that it deserved the "Car of the Year" award. Serial production of these cars lasted as long as 12 years. During this time, about 8 million copies were produced. What is Fiat Uno? Owner reviews, specifications and not only will be presented later in the article.

Design

The small uno was the first car in which the chrome elements inherent in the cars of those years were no longer used. The design was developed by Joggetto Giugiaro, who foresaw the automotive fashion for several years ahead. In 2017, of course, this design is significantly outdated. But the success lies in the fact that the 1983 car looks like it's from the 90's. Even now, Fiat Uno does not look like any dinosaur that rebelled from the past. In view of the low cost, this machine is in great demand among young people. "Fiat Uno" has a huge potential for tuning. With minimal changes (body shaving and beautiful alloy wheels) you can get an unrealistically beautiful car.

Dimensions, clearance

The machine has a very compact overall dimensions. This is a big plus if you use cars in a large city, owners say. The length of the car "Fiat Uno" is 3.69 meters, width - 1.55 meters, height - 1.45 meters. The length of the wheelbase is 2.36 meters, which allows you to overcome major unevenness and rises, even with a 15-centimeter clearance. Also, the car has a small turning radius (4.7 meters).

Specifications

The first modifications of the car were completed with a 900-cc gasoline engine with a capacity of 45 horsepower. But even with it the car was confidently accelerated to 140 kilometers per hour. Two years later, a new Fire engine appeared in the line. At a volume of 999 cubic centimeters, he developed a power of 55 horsepower. The unit had an 8-valve petrol injection and was manufactured using automated technology. Most of the 1-liter Fiats were exported. In particular, some specimens are found in Brazil to this day.

Also, a 1.1-liter gasoline engine was installed on the car. Its maximum power reached 57 "horses". There were also more voluminous units. There were versions with a half-liter motor capacity of 76 horsepower.

Diesel "Fiats"

In the line there were also solid-propellant power plants. The basic was an atmospheric engine with 58 horsepower with a working volume of 1.7 liters. In addition, the Fiat was equipped with a 1.9-liter engine. In the absence of a turbine, this motor developed power of only 60 horsepower (now more than 150 hp are removed from this volume). A little later the line was replenished with turbo-diesel engines. It was an 8-valve R4 aggregate. With a working volume of 1.4 liters, he developed a power of 71 hp. The use of the turbine gave a significant increase in power and dynamics. Overclocking to a hundred took 12.4 seconds. And the maximum speed was 165 kilometers per hour. These were excellent indicators for those years.

Charged version of "Uno"

As you know, in the line of compact cars there is always a charged version with some turbocharged engine. "Fiat" was no exception. In 1985, a modification of the "Uno Turbo" with a 1.4-liter engine. Its total power was 100 horsepower. Thanks to a small curb weight (about 800 kilograms), it was a real "gun-race", which could give odds to full-size sedans from BMW and Mercedes. Overclocking to a hundred took only 8.3 seconds. And the maximum power was about 200 kilometers per hour. As for fuel consumption, it was in the range of 5.6 - 10 liters per hundred depending on the operating conditions.

Regardless of the type of engines, Fiat was manned by a 5-step manual transmission.

What do the reviews say about Fiat Uno?

This is a fairly rare model in Russia. Despite the high popularity in Europe, this car did not become a bestseller on the domestic market. As for the reviews, the owners often face worn out suspension springs. For so many years fail silenblock levers and balls. Although the very design of the running gear is very simple: in front - spring racks, rear - the beam. In terms of ergonomics, the machine is much more comfortable than the "Eight" or "Tavria". The only problem arises with the search for spare parts. "Fiat Uno" ceased to exist in 1995, and it is not possible to find a new part. With great difficulty you can find parts from disassembly. But they are sometimes in a "dying" state.

Conclusion

So, we found out what kind of reviews Fiat Uno has, reviewed the technical specifications. The machine has good potential for external tuning, but in terms of searching for spare parts it can deliver significant trouble to the owner. This must be understood, because the age of the Italian car is more than 30 years.
