Will it work out?

When planning to create your own stream channel, a person can think about broadcasting the most diverse content. For example, many simply begin to play a certain computer online game, while simultaneously broadcasting on the Internet. The attitude to such ideas is often quite skeptical, because not all computers, as well as types of connections to the Internet have the appropriate characteristics in order to provide the ability to conduct broadcasts with no lags. But basically, such problems disappear if you use OBS. How to configure this utility to provide a truly high-quality image in any broadcast?

Xsplit and problems with it

In fact, many are disappointed in the idea of running the streams, because if you use the popular Xsplit program to date, then really can appear all sorts of lags. And many users are faced with this. If we are talking about not the most productive computer, then at a low quality video game process practically turns into a slideshow. Of course, the sound is quite high quality, but the other drawbacks of this utility make it much less attractive compared to OBS. How to configure the utility, the user will decide, since it practically does not play any role, the main thing is to have a powerful computer.

Of course, Xsplit is a pretty good program, which is especially often recommended for those who are just starting to stream. But in fact, she has a fairly large number of shortcomings, and quite significant.

What are the cons?

First of all it is worth noting the fact that there are quite strong restrictions in the settings, if you are using a trial (free) version of the program. This is not found in OBS. How to set up the normal program, if there are restrictions in almost all areas, and in the end it is simply impossible to achieve a normal picture? In addition, it is worth noting that the user does not have the opportunity to expose more than 30 fps. And this is the key point, if we are considering some massive battles, or some ultra-modern and demanding game is being removed.

It is for this reason that users who are simply unable to deliver the Xsplit utility for one reason or another are advised to use OBS. How to properly configure this program, we'll talk further.

What are the advantages of this utility?

The program differs from the rest with its simplicity. It is actually capable of performing miracles, despite the fact that it differs by the extremely small amount of free space that it occupies on the hard disk. To date, users are offered two versions of this utility - 32- and 46-bit, which will need to be used depending on which operating system you are installing OBS. How to properly configure the program, you will understand after you install the utility. After all, if you download an unsuitable file, then you can not start it.

All you need in this case to start streaming is simply to unpack the utility from the downloaded archive. It is worth noting the fact that at the moment there is a full Russified version of the program, which allows you to configure it quite simply. Ultimately, the utility allows you to achieve a good picture, increase the bitrate and the number of frames per second several times, provides the ability to broadcast at the maximum possible resolution. In this case, there are also no problems with sound.

Coding

In this paragraph, one of the most important settings for your stream is exposed. And mostly people who are looking for how to set up OBS, try to figure out how to properly perform this item, since it directly affects the quality of the picture under various dynamic scenes.

It should be noted that from a certain time the service itself "Twitch" began to require users to install a stable bitrate, which also became the impetus for the popularity of this utility. After all, unlike other programs, there are options for how to configure the OBS program in such a way that it supports a stable bit rate. In particular, this is done using the functions CBR and CBR-padding, next to which you need to tick.

How to configure bitrate in OBS? If you want to stream on Tweec, having a resolution of approximately 1280 x 720, then you should maintain a bitrate at 2000-2500. In this case, the more, the better. In this case, you need to understand correctly that a smaller bitrate can have a minor effect on the quality of the picture, but your viewers will not complain about the constant delays. Therefore, by practice, you will need to find the ideal value. In "Audio" it will be enough to install "Bitrate 128" and "Codec ACC".

Casting

This is one of the main points of how to configure the stream through OBS. In this tab you will need to select the service on which you will be broadcasting. Then specify the individual channel key in it. If you are going to broadcast on "Twice", then in this case you will need to set the following settings:

  • Mode: Live broadcast.
  • Broadcast service: Twitch / Channel name.
  • Server: EU: any that you like.
  • Play Path / Stream Key (if you have it, of course). In this column you will need to insert the individual key of our channel.

To fulfill the last requirement, you will need to go directly to the site of the service, then to your account (or create one if you did not do it before), then go to the address ru.twitch.tv/broadcast. After that, you will see the "Show key" button on the right.

Now you will need to copy the cipher that appears. Here, you should be especially careful and copy the entire key completely, because the error even in any one character will not allow you to start the broadcast. It is for this reason that it is highly discouraged to try to enter the key manually.

Finally, check the box next to Auto-reconnect, and set auto-reconnect delay to 10 or less. This parameter indicates how many seconds the system will re-start the stream after its fall.

Video

This is also one of the most important tabs, which greatly affects how to configure OBS for Stream. Here you should first choose the resolution in which viewers can see your picture. In the "Basic Resolution" column, you will need to set "Custom", then enter the values that you think are the most optimal.

Frames per second initially you can set 30. But you can also increase them in the event that you think that the current value is not enough for you.

Audio

Now consider how to set up a microphone in OBS. It's quite simple to do this, so even a novice user can cope with this. At the same time, it should be noted that in this section not only the microphone is tuned, but also the sound of the broadcast as a whole.

As a sound playback device, select the "Speakers" as standard, then click on "Microphone". If you want to use the Push To Talk system, which will allow users to hear you only after pressing a certain button, in this case you should check the box next to the "Click and Speak" paragraph. After that, do not forget to assign the button on the right to which you will need to click for broadcast in the broadcast.

In the column "Delay NIG" you can put 200. If your audience will complain that the end of the phrases begin to disappear, then this value can be slightly increased. In addition, do not forget to add also "hot" keys for actions such as turning on and off the sound or your microphone.

Amplification of the application and microphone can be set to one. But if the audience has some complaints that they do not hear you or the sound in the game, you can change these values a little in the right direction.

Advanced

The final step of the settings, which should look like this:

  • Multithreaded optimization is activated.
  • The process priority is set to Medium.
  • The stage buffering time should be approximately 400.
  • The x264 CPU preset is set to the Veryfast parameter. But if your computer has a fairly powerful processor, then you can set the parameter faster or fast. But in fact, this is not necessary, and you, in turn, increase the load on the CPU.
  • The CFR function is activated.

Among other things, do not forget to also check the box "Adjust the sound for video timing". That's all. Now you know how to cope with this program. We hope, now you know how to set up such an important utility as OBS. We wish you a successful and exciting stream!
