"Northanger Abbey" - a book inside the book
Jane Austen, the author of the book "Northanger Abbey", is quite different from most classics, both British and international. This is due to the fact that she had a unique gift - to write about what is happening in everyday life, but she did so that readers literally absorbed her works. It began its activity in the beginning of the 19th century and enriched the old genres of classical literature with feminine grace, wisdom and depth of judgment. Plus, everything else, she managed to distance herself from the monumentality and old prosaic canons.
"Northanger Abbey" is a story of an amazing, gentle and even somewhat naive love, but in combination with sparkling humor. That is why the book attracts not only the female half of the readers, but also the male one. In addition, it is full of adventures and various mysterious situations, which, of course, have a rather ridiculous concept. In principle, when the reader is familiar with Jane, he must already get used to the humor in her serious works, because she can not do without it.
In fact, the novel "Northanger Abbey" was written at a time when it was just the fashion for all sorts of horrors and secrets, as well as Gothic novels. Austin tried to create her own masterpiece, but at the same time she did not want to yield to other authors who did not depart from the popular genres of the time. And she managed to invest in fashionable horrors close to her love story, without which no decent English castle should not do without.
On the example of the book "Northanger Abbey" Jane Austen was able to prove to the world that these masterpieces of literature never go out of fashion, do not become obsolete. To date, you can find a lot of people who could compare themselves with the heroes of this novel, compare various everyday situations and experience difficulties with humor, which, in principle, the writer tried to teach her readers. And now, for two centuries, both children and adults have enjoyed part of the life of Katherine and the people who surround her.
Thus, the "Northanger Abbey" is a book you want to read even if it is classical and studied in British schools. There is no more serious and dramatic novel, which would have been masterfully done through a veil of irony and real English humor. And if some lover of books has not yet had time to enjoy the satire and mischief of Miss Austen, then he can only be envied, because ahead of him is the whole story of the ancient English castle, along with its residents and guests.
