New money in Belarus (photo)

2016 was a real event in the history of the Belarusian economy. The second time in the history of the country's independence, a denomination was declared, and, consequently, new money was introduced into circulation. In Belarus, which has already become accustomed to living in the world of millionaires, such changes have made a real sensation. Even after the lapse of six months after the denomination was declared, when the old money had to be finally withdrawn from circulation, many continue to consider it as they have become accustomed to for many years. So, what are they - the new Belarusian money?

What changed?

Let's start with the fact that samples of new money in Belarus were developed long before they were introduced into circulation - the notes themselves were already printed in 2009 and locked in reliable storages. Within the denomination, four zeros were cut off, that is, if in old banknotes the minimum denomination was one hundred rubles, now - one kopeck.

For Belarusians who did not use coins before, such innovations were not a very pleasant surprise: not only did they have to change their wallets (in fact, there were no special branches in the old purse), as well as machines, ATMs and other machines, Small bills, not reconfigured for cents. Also worth noting is that even the purchase of new wallets did not help people to adapt to new money, but about this further.

Design

Yes, new money in Belarus, unlike the old ones, is more reminiscent of the European ones than the Soviet ones. Moreover, denominated rubles (namely, the so-called new currency in the country at a time when it was still coexisting with old money) was even criticized for their excessive similarity with the euro.

A special advantage was that Belarus retained the concept of depicting historical buildings on new banknotes, although now, with a reduction in the number of denominations of paper money, some of the sights had to be abandoned. Each region of the republic is immortalized on banknotes, and not only known places were chosen as symbols, but those that make positive associations among Belarusians.

Unaccepted projects

Of course, there were those who wanted to see completely different new money in Belarus. Photos of possible variants of banknotes appeared on the Internet even a year before the denomination. Many offered to put on paper money portraits of famous Belarusians, however, they differed in who exactly is worthy to represent the country on its currency signs: some addressed the fighters for the Belarusian statehood, others appealed to the rulers of different epochs, the third to the figures of science and art.

Another interesting concept, which was never implemented, is the use of images of ancient objects of everyday life and ornaments that would remind people of their roots. The third option suggested reorienting bills, that is, making them not habitually horizontal, but vertical, in the manner of Israeli or Swiss monetary units. The most radical of all proposed is the renaming of currency into a thaler, in the manner of the currency of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, with the image on the bills of people who gave their lives for the sovereignty of the state.

Protection system

Before issuing to circulation, no one could say what new money will be in Belarus. It was known that during their manufacture, new protection technologies were used, which would make it practically impossible to counterfeit banknotes. On the bills are placed special signs in the form of geometric figures, according to which visually impaired people can recognize the denominations. In addition, a special method of strengthening the corners, through which the bills will be more resistant to abrasion, which could not be said about the money of the old model. Another difference is the change in the picture: not the abstract patterns are seen on the lumen, but the building depicted on the bill. Of the traditional preserved in the way the new money looks like in Belarus, the following: the firmware with a special ribbon with the embossed abbreviation of the NBRB (National Bank of the Republic of Belarus). This is also aimed at improving the protection of the bill against forging.

Coins

But the most anticipated and anticipated new money in Belarus is coins. Issued eight denominations - 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 kopecks, 1 and 2 rubles. You can divide the coins into three groups: red ones (the smallest, ornamented on them is a sign of wealth and prosperity), yellow (10-50 kopecks with the ornament symbolizing life force) and silvery (to be more precise, the ruble coin is completely silver, And dvuhrublevaya - silver with a wide golden edging, applied ornaments signify freedom and will).

At the same time, despite originality and unusualness, already today, six months after the introduction of new coins, it is difficult to say how these samples of new Belarusian money will look in five to ten years. The fact is that coins of small denominations are made so unsuccessfully that it is difficult to make out the written on them a young man, not that of someone who does not see well. In addition, the values are very quickly erased, and the small coins themselves are corroded. As for the two-ruble coins, which the republic is so proud of, it turned out that when a not very large force is applied, the coin easily falls into two parts - all this obviously does not promote the popularization of new money among the population.

Effects

Yes, the time has already passed when people asked themselves what new money will be in Belarus. Photo price tags, in which there were no usual zeros, incomprehensible at first recounts between old and new money, which put to a standstill even those who have everything good with mathematics - all this has already settled down.

From January 1, 2017, six months after the official introduction of the pattern of banknotes of the 2009 sample (which is why the adjective "new" sounds paradoxically next to them), the use of old money ceases and the seizure begins. The population is given another five years to completely get rid of obsolete monetary units and finally get used to how new money looks like in Belarus.

Attempts to Understand

What changed when new money appeared in Belarus? Photo denominations immediately after the denomination flooded the Internet, for which the country collapsed a whole barrage of jokes about long-forgotten banknotes with images of animals nicknamed by the people "bunnies" (they were in the course of the mid-nineties).

Has the financial well-being of the population changed? No, on the contrary, from the country of millionaires, Belarus has turned into a camp where a person can receive all the salary in several bills.

When talking about what new money will be in Belarus, a photo of a denomination whose denomination is equivalent to $ 50, it was surprising that we are talking about a bill equal to $ 100 and $ 250 (although it should be noted that the latter are inaccessible to the general public). For people who are used to the fact that the "two rubles" (namely, the so-called 2000 old rubles) were the tenth part of the dollar, now the stable "dollar - two rubles" sounds a little reassuring. In addition, because of the confusion with the prices (especially in the period when it was possible to pay off and receive the change both with new and old money), the state could raise them unnoticed for the population. It's easier to say that the new money in Belarus, despite the fact that it pleased the eye, brought more difficulties and problems. And maybe this is all a temporary phenomenon that will disappear when the state finally gets rid of old money in its consciousness.

PS

Today we already know the answer to the question of what new money will be in Belarus. It remains only to understand whether they will bring the country the same benefits for which those who issued them were in favor.
