Narva Jõesuu - cozy town on the coast of the Baltic

Tired from the bustle of the city, a person unconsciously begins to gravitate toward nature. And there will be no better rest for him than in the city located on the coast and drowning in the greenery of the forest parks.

Short story

For the first time, a small fishing settlement on the territory of the modern city of Narva Jõesuu is mentioned in the 14th century.

With the development of fishing in the early 16th century, the number of inhabitants in the village increases. In these times it is called Gungerburg.

At the end of the 19th century, the settlement was transformed from a fishing port into a fashionable place to relax. Here there are parks and villas, a little later they open their doors to sanatoriums and rest homes for guests. Thus began the birth of one of the best resorts on the Baltic coast.

The town received its modern name only in 1922, the status of the city was given after 1991.

Today hostels, guest houses and hotels in Narva Jõesuu (Estonia) are known far beyond the borders of the country.

Geography and climate

Located in the north-east of the Republic of Estonia, at the mouth of the border river Narva, the city stretched for 6 kilometers along the Narva Gulf and almost 3.5 kilometers along the river bank. A chain of sand dunes, covered with pine forest, separates the city buildings and the coastline

In the summer in the area of Narva Jõesuu the weather is not too hot, and in the winter - not frosty.

Based on long-term observations, we can say that in winter the temperature of air masses fluctuates around -7 ºС, in summer it is about +17 ºС, while the sea water has time to warm up to +18-20 ºС.

But in recent years, the global warming trend has made adjustments in Estonian resorts. Increasingly, the temperature of the air is fixed in summer + 33-35 ºС, and in winter the thermometer's column drops less and less below the zero mark.

Accommodation and meals

The city is famous for its clean sandy beaches, warm, fairly shallow sea and magnificent pines. Therefore, choosing the accommodation options here, it is better to stop at the dune zone area.

There is a wide choice of hotels, guest houses and hostels here. The most prestigious are the comfortable SPA-hotel "Meresuu", decorated in an elegant style, and the sanatorium "Narva-Jõesuu", with a good therapeutic base.

In the budget segment, the leaders in the quality of services are small hotels:

  • Guesthouse Algus in the center of the resort town.
  • Veagles, located in a ten-minute walk from the coast.
  • Liivarand, located almost on the Baltic coast.

In addition, this area is an excellent place for tent camps, which can be broken on green glades or in the dune area.

Almost all hotels have bars and restaurants, where chefs skillfully prepare local and international cuisine. Some offer a buffet meal, others offer a custom menu.

As a tourist center, the city offers its guests, in addition to food at the hotel, a large number of all kinds of cafes, restaurants, bars, pizzerias and other institutions.

Attractions and beach holidays

The city of Narva Jõesuu is rich in natural attractions: pine forest, well-maintained parks, seascapes and the beach. It is a fresh, healing air, a gentle sun, a quiet sea and a long, fairly wide beach, kept clean, attract tourists here.

There are different levels of water here, and families with children can choose the option that suits them. Along the sea coast there are carousels for children, sports grounds and places for barbecue.

But you can relax perfectly not only on the sea coast, residents and guests of the city will want to stroll along the riverbank of Narva.

All the beaches are located near the center.
