But the elusive Brunov after the escape disappears from the field of view of law enforcement. Under the suspicion of a hit on Torchinsky photographer Kosov gets. Surveillance does not give anything. Like Brunov, Kosov simply disappears. It seems that the investigation has reached an impasse.

Without a face

But the experienced Colonel Zarubin, along with the young operative Kroshin, carefully study the slightest nuances of the biographies of all the defendants in the case. Having made unexpected conclusions, they are developing a new plan, in the center of which is the famous plastic surgeon Jan Karlovich Podniescu. Previously, he was familiar with Brunov and had a definite influence on that. Forcing the surgeon to be frank, investigators find out that the recidivist "changed his face" with plastic, made new documents and lives under a stranger's name, with a different biography. According to the surgeon's description, they will recognize Brunov in one of the familiar figurants of the case.

Now they know who the criminal is. But this does not help in his capture. The impudent Brunov in a new guise again literally slips out of a well-planned ambush near the Drozdov dacha. To catch him, the operative flies to Yalta ...
