Monogamous - is it good or bad?

Monogamous is a kind of marriage relationship in which a person officially has only one partner.

This moment is regulated by the legislation of each country. In some countries polygamous marriages are allowed: in some parts of Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North America. In our own society, there is a kind of "consistent monogamy" - the complete interruption of past relationships and the creation of new ones, that is, divorces.

The choice of the type of marriage relationship - polygamous or monogamous - is, by and large, the influence of religion on society. Islam is allowed to have several wives, but only if the man applies equally to all of his women. If you take Christianity, you will see that monogamous relations are the only right relationship between human individuals of different sex, an intimate relationship with another person is considered a terrible sin. All thoughts and feelings should be dedicated only to one partner.

Monogamous is also a kind of sexual relationship, in which only one person is mated. In the animal world, polygamy is the most common. The instinct of procreation forces animals to have a strong, high-quality offspring, which is obtained from a combination of different genetic codes. One male fertilizes several females at once. But there are examples of monogamous relationships among animals. The most famous of them are white swans, for good reason they are a symbol of love. One more representatives are wolves. Usually monogamous animals behave like people: live in pairs, take care of the offspring together, and the couple breaks up only if one of the partners dies.

The last point can hardly be attributed to the description of human relations. The number of divorces per year in our country often exceeds the number of marriages. So can we talk about human monogamy? Our society can be called monogamous formally: a monogamous family - yes, monogamous relations - no. But despite this, countries where monogamous relations are encouraged are more progressive and safe, unlike polygamous countries, where men have to compete among themselves for women who are sorely lacking in such conditions.

Some people are truly monogamous. They are arranged and brought up in such a way that they recognize only one partner in their entire life. Such people do not start a new relationship even after the death of their partner: they continue to love and wait, when again it will be possible to reunite with a loved one again. This devotion is much higher and more aware of the instincts of monogamous animals. But this happens in human society infrequently.

Monogamous is not a verdict to behave as society indicates. Whether you are monogamous or polygamous, the main thing is to be honest with yourself and other people. No one forces you to be faithful to one person. It is not necessary to bind oneself by marriage. However, it is worthwhile to be honest with your partners, in a timely manner, warning you about your inclinations.
