Mixer with a thermostat, ceased to be a curiosity

In the conditions of our time the mixer with thermostat becomes indispensable when it is required to automatically adjust the water temperature. With its help it will be possible to save valuable time, providing fast delivery of water of the necessary temperature. However, this device in our country by many people is still perceived as a foreign exotic. Gradually, the number of admirers is growing, as the comfortable adoption of water procedures largely depends on this device. Thus, the bathroom faucet with thermostat starts to gain popularity. In addition, ensuring maximum comfort, safety is also guaranteed (the possibility of burns is virtually excluded).

Any mixer with a thermostat is controlled by two controllers, one of which controls the temperature of the water, and the other adjusts the head. The difference from conventional analogs is the presence of a thermostatic element. In this case, no electronics is used in the design. The thermostat performs its actions based on simple physical principles. Inside is a special substance that reduces or increases the volume (depending on the temperature). Such devices, by the way, help to conserve natural resources.

Of course, the lack of electrical power in the thermostat can be attributed to the advantages, but this design requires a high-quality installation. If you confuse the cranes in places, then there will be certain problems. Then the mixer with thermostat will not work correctly. By European standards, it is suggested to connect the cold water to the right, and hot to the left. In Soviet times, the reverse scheme was used, which is still encountered today (not only in old houses!). In this case, for European models, they will have to change the places of the piping, which, in principle, is quite feasible.

Most often mixers with a thermostat as a thermocouple have a sealed capsule containing artificial wax. Reacting to temperature conditions, it regulates the ratio of hot and cold water. Recently, a thermoelement from a bimetallic spring has been widely used. In this case, two different metals react to the temperature fluctuations. When heated, the spring is expanded, and when it is cooled, it is compressed. Due to this property, it is possible to obtain the required proportions of cold and hot water. Sometimes bimetallic rings act as a thermoelement, working approximately on the same principle as a spring of two metals.

The mixer with thermostat can be built-in or external. The first type is most interesting from an aesthetic point of view, because the installation can be done in a finished box in a niche. After that, you just need to bring all the communications and close the cavity decorative panel. The built in part of the same manufacturer has standard sizes and is equipped with decorative patches. As for models of external type, their design is very diverse, so without much difficulty it will be possible to choose the right option.
