Mimosa is bashful. Peculiarities of growing

Rarely does anyone know that a mimosa is bashful - a relative of beans. This unfamiliar plant, justifying its name, when touched, turns leaves, closes pores and, according to experts, supposedly stops photosynthesis. However, after waiting for danger, again appears in its former elegant form. At sunset, as if packing for the night, the flower again turns the leaves. Thanks to this unique feature in the homeland of the plant, it is very difficult to get rid of it as a weed.

Vegetation features

Being a native of the tropics, the mimosa is modestly cultivated as a houseplant. It has a high growth rate and reaches 50 cm in 4 months. Blossoms with unusual light purple flowers - "balls". It binds fruit by self-pollination. They can not be eaten, as they are poisonous.
Mimosa shameful lighting prefers bright, well feels in the sun. However, with the established heat, it is best to shade in order to avoid burns.

Cultivation and care

The temperature for comfortable growth of a guest from the tropics is standard - + 20-24 degrees. In cold weather, a decrease of + 16-18 degrees is required. Given the area of growth, the mimosa should be sprayed more often and kept in a pan in which moist moss is located. In the summer, abundant watering should be done, which must be reduced in winter.

Mantra refers mildly modest to regular top dressings, which are carried out every 2 weeks. After the plant has faded, because of the loss of decorative it can be safely thrown away. It is unlikely that the mimosa will survive the winter months. However, having many seeds collected, next spring you can re-seed. The land to be prepared for this purpose must have a traditional composition: turf, peat, sand and sheet humus.

Landing

In order to activate the properties of seeds, they must be exposed to high temperatures before heating, for example, in hot water. This procedure will take about 30 minutes. To dull the seed material in a moistened substrate costs 0.5 to 1 cm. Mimosa creates greenhouse conditions by covering the pot with a transparent film. The required temperature regime is + 25 degrees, the lighting is bright, but not direct rays. Plant seedlings that appear not earlier than they reach a five-centimeter height. The density of planting is 2-3 sprouts in each pot.

Joy to children

Exotic, unusual mimosa shy, caring for which does not take long, will bring a lot of joy to children. They are ready to endlessly watch the flower turn and lower its green "limbs."

Mimosa does not tolerate tobacco smoke

A great threat to the appearance of plants are created by spider mites and aphids. Using traditional methods of processing will save the mimosa from this scourge. The result of excessive watering can be yellowing and the constant curdling of the leaves. If the mimosa is bashful (the photo can be seen above) is in a smoke-filled room, most likely, it will discard the leaves. The same result will be obtained with non-systematic watering. To ensure that the stems do not stretch upwards and flowers appear , the mimosa needs sufficient lighting.
