Michael Pride: British actor of theater and cinema

One of the main television hits of the eighties was the British television series "Robin from Sherwood." Streets of Soviet cities emptied during the show of another story, people all the truth and crooks were sent from work to make it to the TV. And the idol of all the girls was certainly an actor who played the role of Robin Hood. Photos of Michael Pride were cut from newspapers, magazines, his images were displayed on posters that adorned the rooms. However, most of his career the Englishman still devoted to the theatrical stage and appeared on the screens infrequently.

Years of Learning

The future Robin Hood was born in England in 1960 under the name of Michael David Prince. However, subsequently, as a stage name, the name Pride was chosen, which in the Cornish language meant "meadow". This was due to the fact that in the British guild of actors, one Michael Prins was already registered.

Father soon after the birth of Michael moved to Iran to work in the British office of the oil company. The boy spent his first years in Teheran, having learned Farsi for this time. When he was 8 years old, Michael's family returned to Britain, where he began to study at a private Eastbourne school. After receiving general education, he entered Eastbourne College, which was famous for its strict discipline. However, here Michael paid more attention to music and singing, as well as school plays, than to scientific disciplines.

Seeing this state of affairs, the teachers advised him to continue their education in more specialized educational institutions, where he could become an artist.

After graduating from college, Michael moved to London and entered the Guildhall School of Music and Theater. Here he is taught opera, music, but the young man gravitates more to the craft of a dramatic actor.

Becoming an actor

After graduating from his studies, Michael began by changing his name. In Britain there was already one Michael Prins, and therefore Pride First appeared instead of Prince of the Second.

A young actor begins his career with a job in the theater. His first serious appearance on the stage was the role of Jesus, played by him in the musical Godspell. In 1980, Michael Pride moved to Southampton, where he concentrated on classical theater productions. In his active role in the plays "Storm", "Servant of two masters", "Beauty and monsters". And for the last production, a graduate of the Guildhall School wrote some musical parts.

Restless Pride did not sit still, and he again changed his place of work. To continue his career, he chose a theater in Chesterfield, where he gained wide popularity, playing in the production of "Pirates of Penza", playing the role of Frederick.

Breakthrough on big screens

Becoming famous, the actor began to appear in television productions. He participates in the projects "Professionals", "Conspiracy Rothko".

Fatal in the biography of Michael Pride was the participation in the musical "Abbakadabra", where he won the party Aladdin. It was here that he met Finola Hughes, with whom he lived for more than seven years.

Just at this time, producer Paul Knight was looking for an actor to star in the new television series "Robin from Sherwood." He liked the work of Michael Pride in "The Pirates of Penza", and he invited a novice artist to his film, which first aired in 1984. "Robin from Sherwood" became a free interpretation of the canonical book about a noble robber, in the plot appeared immediately two Robin Hood.

The series caused a huge hype all over the world, and the rights to it were sold out in more than fifty countries. Michael Pride himself gained worldwide popularity and began to receive countless invitations to participate in new projects.

Late works

After successful work in "Robin from Sherwood" Briton went overseas, where he worked for some time on Broadway, playing the role of Dartanyan. Then followed the role of Michael Moldavsky in the series Aaron Spelling, as well as participation in the film "Night Flight." The last picture failed at the box office and caused a storm of criticism because of an unsuccessful script and substandard special effects.

Nevertheless, the earned money was enough for the actor to build a house with a private studio in Los Angeles, where he wrote several songs, which was enough for a full album. Photo by Michael Pride in the life of those times demonstrates to the viewer of a man who is completely satisfied with his destiny.

In the nineties he returned to his homeland, where he concentrated on working in the theater. On television and in the cinema, he did not appear so often. You can distinguish roles in the series "Horsemen", "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne." For six years he worked as a storyteller in the documentary project "Time Scale".

Today Michael Pride is constantly living near London, meeting with Josephine Gabel, whom he has known for more than ten years.
