Medication 'Sulfacil sodium'. Instructions for use

The drug "Sulfacil sodium Dia" refers to the antimicrobial agents of the sulfonamide group. The drug has a bacteriostatic effect. The agent is used in ophthalmology. The active substance is sulfacetamide.

The mechanism of action of the drug "Sulfacil sodium" is associated with the ability of the active component to disrupt the vital activity of pathogenic microbes, preventing their reproduction.

The drug "Sulfacil sodium" (instructions for use contains such data) shows activity against germs of gram-positive and gram-negative, including toxoplasm, actinomycetes, shigella, chlamydia, gonococcus, Escherichia coli, pneumococci, streptococci and others.

After the introduction of the eye, the "Sulfacil sodium" agent begins to exert a predominantly local effect. Absorption of the drug does not practically occur, as a result of which the drug can penetrate into the systemic blood stream in small amounts (usually through inflamed mucous membranes or through penetration into the lacrimal canal).

The drug "Sulfacil sodium" is recommended for the treatment of inflammatory processes affecting the anterior parts of the eye (gonococcal lesions in newborns (blenorrhea), blepharitis, conjunctivitis, purulent ulcers in the cornea, chlamydial lesions). The drug is prescribed as a means to prevent inflammation when exposed to sand, dust, foreign matter and other negative factors.

A 30% solution of "Sulfacil sodium" instruction for use allows for use only by adults. Drops of 20% can be given to children.

As a rule, it is recommended that one eye drop into each eye - two drops. The frequency of installations is three to six times a day. As the symptoms ease, the incidence of instillation is reduced. The duration of use of the drug is determined by the doctor.

In order to prevent the development of inflammation in newborns, the drug "Sulfacil sodium" instruction for use recommends instilling in each eye two drops immediately after birth and after two hours.

The drug "Sulfacil sodium" during pregnancy and lactation is allowed to use, however, prescribe the drug should be strictly according to the indications. The attending physician, recommending a medication, must evaluate the estimated risk for the fetus, correlating it with the probable benefit for the mother.

The agent "Sulfacil sodium" should not be used simultaneously with substances having a pH of 3-4. Also, the drug is incompatible with drugs that include silver salts.

When developing inflammatory processes, it is not recommended to use contact lenses.

The opened vial is suitable for use for four weeks.
