Many of the series "Sex in the Big City" were also filmed in the walls of Magnolia Bakery, and Carrie Bradshaw herself lived on Bleecker Street, which is a few blocks from the establishment.

The first American cafe in Russia

The first cafe "Magnolia Bakeri" (Moscow) was opened in the very center of the capital on the Kuznetsky Most street. Cozy interior in light colors was filled with retro-style decor elements, so that every visitor was instantly transferred to somewhere in the heart of New York. It was there that the first institution of Magnolia Bakery opened in West Village in 1996. But the reason for the increased interest of metropolitan residents was quite different.

According to visitors, it was here that you could try the legendary banana pudding or go to New York for it. In addition, in this paradise for sweet tooth, it was suggested to try more than 150 varieties of desserts, starting with the well-known in many films, capkeys and ending with cakes.

However, to try them all in the "Magnolia Bakeri" in Moscow for one day no one succeeded, since only the main positions were presented in the menu of the institution. For example, on Friday it was suggested to try a capkake with walnuts and carrot cream-chiz, and on Monday - the same dessert only from a chocolate dough with vanilla and cream.

The appearance of some sweets was associated with the season, others complemented the menu during Easter or on Christmas Eve.

As one of the interviews of Marta Zolina (PR-director of "Magnolia Bakeri" in Moscow) confessed, the institution is an exact copy of the American bakery. No matter what kind of cafe a person visits - in Chicago, Kuwait or in New York itself, he does not see a difference, the only difference being the inscription on the plate, where the name is presented in different languages.

"Magnolia Bakery" in Moscow is a cozy bakery-confectionery where every resident could drink a cup of invigorating coffee or fragrant tea at reasonable prices, enjoying tasty and fresh pastries. Any food could be eaten in the very institution, and take it home.

But the highlight of "Magnolia" was the process of creating desserts. All the ingredients were brought from America. Therefore, the question: "Is it possible to prepare famous capkakes from domestic flour?" - the answer has always been negative, since there are discrepancies in taste sensations.

The news of the closure

In the "Magnolia Bakery" in Moscow has always been cozy, beautiful, tasty, and most importantly, inexpensive, so the news of the termination of the functioning of the three metropolitan institutions has plunged every visitor into shock.

The last confectionery was closed on July 1, 2014. Unfortunately, the reasons, like the names of franchise owners in Russia, are still unknown. Representatives did not comment on the incident, and on the official website, where the list of locations is presented, since then Russia is absent.

So unexpectedly the magnolias fade, although the CEO of the American company Steve Abrams promised that Russia will be a "big game" for Magnolia Bakery and at least 5 similar establishments will be opened on the territory of the country.

According to official data, at present 25 bakeries "Magnolia Bakeri" are functioning around the world, the closest point for Russian fans is located in the United Arab Emirates.
