Lentil soup - delicious, affordable and satisfying!

Lentils are a great product, useful, like all legumes. It is very rich in proteins, it contains a lot of vitamins, microelements and complex carbohydrates. The consumption of this product has a positive effect on the body, in particular, on the digestive and nervous systems. This relative of peas and beans can be of different varieties - yellow, red, green and even black. And all varieties of lentils are equally tasty and useful.

The most common dish from this bean is the soup. Earlier, only the lower strata of the population prepared food from lentils. This groats were the daily food of the poor because of their accessibility and excellent nutritional properties. After all, a third of it consists of protein, which is not inferior in quality to the meat protein. Currently, lentil soup is an exquisite and delicious dish. With aromatic spices, croutons and fresh herbs, it will become a real decoration for any family dinner.

Lentil soup with chicken

Products:

- chicken or chicken legs - one and a half kilograms;

- lentils - two hundred grams;

- potatoes - eight large tubers;

- carrots - one piece;

- onion white - two small heads;

- vegetable oil, fresh herbs, spices, salt.

Cut chicken into pieces, wash and cook broth. Lentils should be soaked in water for the whole night. While the broth is being boiled, chop the onion and grate the grated carrot. Fry vegetables in oil. We will peel the potatoes and cut it into small cubes. When the chicken is ready, we'll get it from the broth and drop the potatoes. As soon as the potatoes boil, add lentils to the soup. For two or three minutes, when we turn off the soup, add the fried vegetables and fresh greens, we will salivate to taste. Serve this soup is better with rye toast or crackers.

Red Lentil Soup

Products |

- red lentils - two hundred g;

- Olive oil - 50 milliliters;

- onions - one large head;

- tomato - one piece;

- lemon juice - a tablespoon;

- Indian spices "Masala" (you can replace curry) - a teaspoon;

- garlic - half-head;

- chili pepper - one piece;

- cumin - half a teaspoon;

- seeds of mustard - half a teaspoon;

- Pepper and salt - to taste;

- turmeric - half a teaspoon.

Onion finely cut into slices. Garlic clean and crush the lobules with a press. Chili pepper is cut, carefully discarded the seeds, they are the sharpest in pepper, cut into thin slabs. Red lentils can not be soaked in advance, it is good that it is prepared very quickly, literally ten minutes. We will wash it and put it in a saucepan. We will pour lentils with water. We cook until ready. Tomato (you can remove the skin - for this we scald it with boiling water, then the peel is easily removed) cut into small pieces.

We will heat up the olive oil in a frying pan. When the oil is heated, we throw there seeds of mustard. They will need to be fried in oil for literally half a minute, stirring constantly. Then add the chopped onions and spices - turmeric and cumin. Slightly fry the mixture and add the garlic. After a few minutes it will be possible to throw into the frying pan finely chopped tomato and chili. Stirring, a little put out all together. When the roast is ready, add it to the pan with lentils. After a few minutes, when the liquid boils, in the soup of lentils, you can put "Masala" or curry and salt. We cook about five minutes. At the very end, add lemon juice. When serving, you can throw a pinch of chopped greens. Serve the soup well with croutons.

In many peoples, lentils are a symbol of luxury, prosperity, so it is served during various festivities.
