Latifundist is the owner of agricultural land

Almost every third person on the planet dreams of opening his own business, which would bring a good income and did not require huge efforts. Nevertheless, business needs to be mastered. Everything is not so simple and does not end with the search for capital for an enterprise. Therefore, in recent years, many have tried themselves in all known agriculture, which in our time brings real income and does not require super-abilities.

Land tenure

When referring to agriculture, perhaps many are interested in the meaning of the word "latifundist." It happened back in ancient Rome. At that time people had farms, vast estates, which were called latifundia. On the ground, as a rule, engaged in agriculture. More often than not, people grew corn, produced olive oil and opened wineries.

In the past such plots of land were concentrated in Egypt, Greece, Sicily and Spain. Today, the latifundist is a person engaged in business in agriculture. In fact, nothing has changed. The land is still used for growing different crops, and people get money for it, which you can live on.

Latifundia today

It would seem that the times of Ancient Rome survived, but some moments still remained unchanged. Perhaps earlier no one knew who the latifundist was. This name appeared a little later, but is widely used today, especially in Latin America. In the 21st century latifundia can be found in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Cuba, Chile, Argentina and other parts. Anyway, wherever the plots are located, the latifundist is the same person who owns them and specializes in the export fields of agriculture.

Features of latifundia in the past and now

Once upon a time, in the days of Ancient Rome, small landowners, offended by fate and ruined by wars, completely "drowned" in their debts, and the only way to survive was the transfer of land to the use of rich landlords. They, in turn, expanded their possessions, and poor people were content with what they could. It was in this way that gradually the landlords increased their estates severalfold, and as a result received vast areas of land. A little later they were called latifundia.

After a while, a person engaged in agriculture in these territories was given the name of the latifundist - it was the defender of the lands. It should be noted that earlier sites were handled by slaves, which in our time is completely excluded.
