Latch electromechanical: installation, wiring diagram, operating principle

Strengthening the entrance doors in our time has become, rather, a vital necessity than a luxury, the electromechanical latch provides a reliable and convenient locking of the lock. Places of installation are different - from the usual entrance door to the apartment to the street gate, providing access to the yard.

Design Features

Latch electromechanical is an auxiliary element that provides a more secure door locking, automatic and remote operation of the locking mechanism.

Its features:

  • The latch locks the tongue of the lock bolt, and the complete replacement of the mechanical part is not required during installation.
  • A cheaper analogue of an electromechanical lock, since it has less resistance to external mechanical action.
  • Not all types of locks are combined with a latch, before buying it is necessary to consult with the seller.
  • A connection to an AC or DC power supply is required, depending on which electromechanical latch for the doors is to be installed.
  • Work can be carried out remotely, when the button is pressed by the owner of the room. It is often used in multi-family or private houses together with intercom. Also, the options are using plastic cards and digital panels.
  • At purchase it is necessary to pay attention to type of a door: wooden, metal, plastic, металлопластиковая.
  • Latch electromechanical with an electric drive requires a tight closing of the cloth with a constant cleaning of the closing zone from pollutants and installation of door closer.
  • The type of latch used depends on the way the door is installed: right-hand or left-hand.

Schemes and installation types

The connection scheme of the electromechanical latch is realized in several ways:

  • Installation in the door case with replacement of the plate with holes under the bolt, the extended bolt is blocked.
  • The latch is installed in the side of the door frame. The classical scheme, in which the mechanism itself remains completely invisible.

Types of latches:

  • With a normally closed fixation.
  • With the locking - allows you to temporarily hold the lock in the open state, until the door is opened again. A special feature is the presence of a special pin in the center of the fastening tab.
  • Normal-open kind of work.

Latch operation

The principle of operation of an electromechanical latch is determined by its type:

  • When using a normally closed circuit, it is desirable to connect from an AC source. The door is locked and opens only when the control signal comes in and closes if the signal stops. The sustained force of the anti-load upon opening is up to 150 N.
  • Latches with crossover are designed for a one-time opening of the door upon receipt of a signal. The tension stops and the door opens. The correct installation should provide a 2 ÷ 3-mm gap between the tongue and the lock.
  • Normally-open type is provided by removing the fixation only when the electric power is turned off. In such systems, a DC power supply is used.

Often, during the operation of the door, there is a need for additional unlocking, which involves the installation of:

  • Lever in the corner of the tongue of the lock, which provides a mechanical unlocking of doors (for outdoor doors and in the condition of high humidity the mobile screw is most often used).
  • An additional electric coil providing long-term free operation of the door.

Standard installation kit

A complete set of "door-latch" is:

  • Two handles: the inner handle must be pressure, the outer one - fixed.
  • Mechanical lock on bolts with key.

The door will be unlocked from the outside only if the electromagnetic latch receives a control signal, or when the mechanical key is opened with a key. When mechanically closing the bolt, the remote operation function is disabled.

Installing the Latch

The standard scheme involves working with the door frame into which the electromechanical latch cuts into, the installation will require the following operations:

  1. Remove the old counterplate located on the door frame.
  2. Perform measurements for installing the latch:
  • Places from the outer part of the door to the end of the tongue of the lock;
  • The tongue itself, including the depth of entry into the canvas frame.
  • Apply the markup. Attach a counterplate and mark the places for the fasteners and the tongue.
  • In the event that there is a wooden box, then using the grinder to cut holes of the necessary size. The hollow door will require additional fasteners, by which the latch is fixed to the body, holes are made using a drill.
  • On the outside of the door, install a non-pressurized handle.
  • The photo of the door and the installation site, will help the seller to more accurately determine the type of product when selling.

Connecting the power to the latch

Connecting the power to the latch with the help of wires, their number and the wiring diagram depends on the way the automatic operation is controlled - it will be a digital panel, audio or video intercom or other systems that control access.

    1. If the case is hollow, the wires are laid out, according to the scheme attached in the manual, inside the cavity and are brought under the plinth, followed by connection to the control and power devices.
    2. Working with a single box involves drilling additional channels to lead the wire to the wall.
    3. Place the latch in the prepared groove and secure with a fastener. For fixing to the metal door, two additional holding plates and screws are necessary.
    4. Securing the latch to check the correct operation of the entire system.

Features of the latch on the gate

An electromechanical latch on the gate will require additional work to lead the wires from the gate to the house.

    Ways of summing:

    1. By air - the fastest and cheapest implementation. The wire must be secured to a tight cable or a rigid support, securely fastening it. Bad attachment in windy weather becomes the main cause of the cliff.
    2. Underground - a reliable, but more expensive and time-consuming option, will require digging out a trench with the subsequent laying in it of a protective sleeve, into which the wire will be placed.

    Pros and cons

Electromechanical door latches provide the advantages:

    • Versatility. The ability to combine a mechanical lock with an electrical lock that allows the lock to remain in working condition if there is a power failure or a system failure.
    • Quick installation, price. It is possible to install a completely new lock or replace only the mate, which saves.
    • Convenience. Remote control allows you to control the entrance to the room, being away from it at a distance.
    • Reliable locking. The counteraction of the lock mechanism to the implementation of external breaking is intensified.

There are a number of shortcomings:

    • Not all installations are possible.
    • Electric locks have a greater locking force.

Selecting the locking mechanisms to the door, it must be remembered that no matter what the expensive chosen system, without competent installation and connection, the lock will not work correctly. Doors and locks do not belong to everyday objects, on which you can save without jeopardizing the safety of property.
