Vitebsk region is famous for its lakes, which are attractive for lovers of fishing and recreation. These ponds are considered one of the main attractions of this region.

White lake

The White Lake is located in the Czarnagosnica River basin, a few kilometers from the town of Beshenkovichi. The area of the water mirror is 1.49 km², and the maximum depth is slightly more than 12 m. The western coasts are rather steep and high (about 20 m), the height of the eastern reaches up to three meters. The bottom is sandy. The white lake is swamped in the northern and southern parts.

On the western side of the reservoir is a vast forest range, in which, despite the swamping, abundantly grow blueberries, cranberries, cranberries and mushrooms. In addition, the banks of the lake are overgrown with tall grass and rare shrubs. Here there are meadows and arable land. Among other species, the common burial grows here , which is listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus. Officially, underwater hunting is allowed here, but only during the daytime. On the coast there are 3 villages: Gorodets, Malye Pavlovici, Zabelie.

City

In the Vitebsk region is located the Gorodno Lake. It is located in the basin of the Luchos River, a few kilometers from Vitebsk. The area of the water mirror is 0.87 km², and the depth is on average 4 m, the largest is 8 m. This pond is rich in nutrients and plankton. Due to the abundance of the latter, the water is not very clear. In summer, the surface of the lake is well warmed up.

At the bottom of the pond, sand is sanded, and in deeper sections - mud. Despite the fact that the lake sometimes contaminated nearby factories and plants, Gorodno is popular with fishermen. It is inhabited by river predators. This feature is different and other lakes of the Vitebsk region. Most often there are carp, burbot, pike, bream. On the banks grow reeds and reeds.

On the coast there are 3 villages: Gorodnyansky Mos, Sosnovka, Gorodnyany. In addition to them in this area is the sanatorium "Sosnovka". Therefore the second unofficial name of the lake is Sosnovka.

Lake Serdovo

Other lakes of the Vitebsk region differ significantly from it, because the reservoir is one of the most beautiful objects in this zone. Located near the village of Shlyubovshchina. Rest here come not only local, but also people from other settlements. The area of the lake is 1.1 km², the maximum depth is 9 m. Sand and silt lie on the bottom.

The coast of the lake played a big role during the Second World War. Here was located a machine-gun battalion, which resisted the Nazis for two weeks.

Limes

In the Vitebsk region there is Lake Lipki. It is located 14 kilometers from the center of the district. The area of the water mirror is 0,044 km ², the length of the coastline is about 0,9 km. Refers to the basin of the river Shestenka.

"Forest Lake"

"Lake Lesnoye" (Vitebsk region) is not at all a reservoir, as many people believe. This is the name of the children's health camp, which is located in the area. It is located only 40 km from Orsha.
