Labrador Dog: Breed Species and Pet Care

Among the more than 400 breeds of dogs that exist at the moment, it is really difficult to find one that suits your family. Most importantly, when choosing a shaggy friend, clearly imagine what kind of animal it is and what it was brought to. Then you will not have problems with keeping a dog at home: how often people buy a Caucasian in a close apartment or as a nanny for a child, or a greyhound for "decorating the interior." These are all big mistakes: we must take into account the goals for which this breed was derived, its dimensions, peculiarities of the psyche, predisposition to diseases, difficulties in care.

So, the Labrador. It is difficult to say whether the next fact is a worthy argument or not, but at the moment it is one of the most popular breeds. This dog (labrador) belongs to the group of companion dogs and deserves to be called "family". A wonderful, open, affectionate dog will be an excellent friend for children and adults. An important question is how much a Labrador puppy costs. There is no unequivocal answer, it all depends heavily on the region where you live. Affect the cost and the age at which the pet will be bought. Bear in mind, a grown dog costs more than a baby. However, often inexperienced breeders, on the contrary, reduce the cost, fearing that the puppy will not sell at all.

Of course, most of all the price depends on the dog itself, animals without a pedigree are much cheaper. However, keep in mind, it is better to buy a pet with one, of course, making sure that it is not fake. Even if you do not want to participate in exhibitions and breeding, but you just need a pet for the family. After all, only the origin of the dog guarantees you exactly those qualities that characterize the breed, which is especially important - the stability of the nervous system. You risk getting a cowardly, stupid and aggressive animal if you take a puppy without a pedigree.

Brief description of the breed. Exterior

Labrador - the dog is compact, the height at the withers for males is 56-57 cm, for females - 54-56 cm, the weight of adult zwiot up to 36 kg. Head wide, ears hanging, slightly backward. The neck is strong, the chest is wide and deep, the loin is short. Paws compact, tail wide at the base, tapers towards the end, rather long. Colors: fawn, chocolate, black.

Psychic, behavior and learning

The dog is incredibly curious, friendly, affable and always ready to communicate. These dogs have a stable nervous system, they are not cowardly, despite the lack of aggressiveness, can stand up for themselves. Their ability to learn is striking, for good reason labradors around the world are used as service dogs. They can easily be taught not only by standard commands, but also by various tricks.

Labrador is a bad choice in case you need a security dog. The dog by definition should not be aggressive towards humans and animals. Having a similar quality in him is a disqualifying flaw. If you need a guard, it's better to choose another breed.

What if you already have a dog at home? Labrador, which you want to make a new member of your family, will not create problems for you in this regard. These animals perfectly coexist with representatives of other breeds. Wishing to implement such an idea, you should rather beware of possible problems from your first pet. Everything will depend on his breed and individual characteristics.

Content Labrador

Buying such a baby, it will be necessary to take into account some features of care for it. In general, due to the short haired dog, there is no longer a major problem in caring for wool. Like another short-haired dog, a labrador does not need a daily thorough combing. It will be enough if you will carry out this procedure once a week with the help of special brushes. What should I look for? Since the Labrador has characteristic hanging ears, care should be taken to care for them and to monitor their condition. Hanging ears are ventilated less well, which creates a favorable environment for the reproduction of microorganisms. Ears should be cleaned every week. The dog is alive and active, it takes long walks, at least one hour a day. It is desirable to swim in natural reservoirs or pools.

How to feed a pet? Puppies Labrador Retriever unpretentious in their eating habits and at the same time rather voracious. We must strictly monitor the amount and calorie content of food, the dog is prone to obesity.

Predisposition to diseases. It is available for hip dysplasia, food allergy, certain tumors, progressive degeneration of the retina, epilepsy.

Is training required?

As already mentioned, you will have a very affectionate and loving dog. Labrador is a champion in the abundance of friendly feelings experienced by him in relation to all living things. However, the matter is not only in the presence or absence of aggression. Training for him is also mandatory, as for, say, a harsh Central Asian Shepherd. The dog has a living temperament and rather large dimensions, such a pet must be necessarily controlled. Thanks to the amazing understanding of the dog, training will not be difficult, but on the contrary, it will be an additional opportunity to enjoy the company of a caudate friend.
