Krasnoyarsk Reservoir: description, features, rest

Krasnoyarsk reservoir is not in vain called the sea. After all, it really looks more like a real sea, and not an artificial pond! The reservoir was created in 1967-1970. The dam of Krasnoyarsk HPP was able to block the channel of one of the largest and deepest rivers in Russia - the Yenisei. And the reservoir occupies the second place in Russia in terms of fullness.

Briefly about the reservoir

The Krasnoyarsk reservoir (the map below) has very impressive dimensions. Its length reaches 388 km, and the width in some places can be estimated at 15 km. In some places, the depth of the reservoir is about 105 m (maximum).

The reservoir was built to control the water level in the river, so that navigation would not be hindered by any obstacles. Also, the Krasnoyarsk Sea is used for industrial purposes, in particular, for rafting wood. The banks at the pond are very different. It can be sandy beaches, muddy dams, and piles of rocks.

After the construction of this artificial reservoir at the place of confluence in the Yenisei, bays were formed. One of them is Tubinsky. It is located closer to Minusinsk, the distance from it is only 18 kilometers. The bay is very picturesque and suitable for rest for many people. Here the holidaymaker will be greeted by sandy beaches, framing the shores of the pine and a smooth increase in depth. Nearby is found the mountain Tepsei, similar to the giant lying mammoth. Also in its vicinity and the mouth of the Tuba River, petroglyphs can be found - rock paintings of ancient people.

Lovers can also be sailing, you can advise the Bay of Shumikha. There is a yacht club called "Admiral". Club yachts sway gracefully on the waves, decorating themselves with this place. The hubbub is the most popular bay on the entire Krasnoyarsk Sea.

Next to it is located the second major bay - Biryusinsky. It is famous for its picturesque rocks. Further downstream they pass into a thick and difficult taiga. The best way to get to it is to swim on a motor boat, crossing the Krasnoyarsk Reservoir. The land route also exists, but it will require a lot of effort and time. It is good for those who like complex category trips.

Good sandy beaches can provide others and the bay, which is located near Primorsk. There are also a lot of vacationers here, but not as in the Shumikha. It is possible that this is due to the remoteness of Primorsk from Krasnoyarsk. Go to him about three and a half hours.
