John Corbett: biography, filmography
John Corbett, an American actor with a variety of roles, was born on May 9, 1961 in Willing, Virginia. It has a high (196 cm) growth and a huge energy potential, which helps him both in his creative activity and in baseball. John Corbett composes songs in country style, performs them under a guitar or banjo. In addition, the actor writes poetry.
Work of the steelmaker
After graduating from high school, John Corbett moved to California and got a job at a steel plant. The work was difficult, with the tasks of the steelmaker and the adults coping with difficulty, and Corbett, thanks to good physical preparation, gambly rolled the trolleys with forms from one end of the shop to the other.
He worked at the factory for six years, but then had to leave because of a back injury. Further, Corbett decided to tackle dramatic art and entered the class of theater actors at the California College of Cerritos. While still a student, he took part in several productions, while showing good acting skills.
After listening to positive responses to his address, John Corbett decided to go to Hollywood and start a career as a film actor there. However, the Dream Factory in Los Angeles met him unfriendly, and the future star had to start with commercials.
Carier start
Only in 1988 John was noticed and invited to the film industry, where he played in the teen series "Wonderful years". The role was episodic, but the debut took place. Gradually John Corbett began to play more significant characters. The two-meter growth of the actor, on the one hand, allowed him to play the exclusive roles of tall heroes, and on the other hand, such types do not often occur in film projects. Nevertheless, John Corbett did not stand idle.
In 1990, the actor received his first starring role (Chris Stevens from the series "North Side"), which made him incredibly popular among the audience.
In 1991, Corbett made his debut in a big movie, he played a small role in the action movie "The Flight of the Intruder" directed by John Millius.
Creative activity
The year 1993 brought the actor a role in the western "Tumstone: The Legend of the Wild West", staged by George Cosmatos. Then, with a break of several years, there were two roles: in the movie "Volcano" directed by Mick Jackson and "The Chronicle of Osiris" staged by Joe Dante.
In the nineties John Corbett worked a lot on images in television projects and simultaneously acted in films for the big screen. Another star actor role was the character of Aidan Shaw in the popular TV series "Sex and the City." John Corbett, whose films have already been expected by the general public, continued to actively withdraw in new film projects.
From recent works Corbett can be called such films: "Country of dreams," directed by Jason Matzner, "Kings of the streets" by David Eyer, "Messengers" in the production of Oxide and Danny Pan, "Flaming Plain" Arriaga Guillermo and others. In 2009, John Corbett played in the melodramatic film "I Hate Valentine's Day" directed by Nii Vardalos. The character Greg Gatlin markedly added to the actor's popularity.
Personal life
John Corbett was married only once. His wife is a model and actress Bo Derek (nee Mary Kathleen Collins), the widow of the podium and studio photographer, the staff reporter for Playboy magazine Joe Derek.
Currently, John Corbett and Bo Derek live in Santa Barbara, a city widely known for several action-dramatic series. Children do not have spouses. John Corbett, whose wife supports him in everything, leads a diverse life full of all sorts of hobbies, both sporting and intellectual.
Often, he and his wife breaks down, and they leave for another long trip across America. Having left California, the spouses cross many states. Usually the voyage ends in Florida, and sometimes in New York. It all depends on how many free days John had between shooting. The regulations have to be reckoned with, since forfeit penalties for the filming process are expressed in six-figure figures and amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars. So it's better to get back to Los Angeles on time.
The actor is happy to participate in baseball competitions, high growth gives him a significant advantage over other players. Without him, not a single contest "Fast Eater". He has no equal in towing to the dispute of heavy-duty truck-trailers, when it is necessary to stretch a multitone car for a given distance. Competitions are held in good weather on a specially equipped site. A heavy tractor with a trailer clings to a cable, which is attached to the athlete's shoulders. In some cases the strong men pull the machine with their teeth. This is considered the most difficult stage in the competition. Winners receive large sums of money and certificates.
