When was the zoo founded in Ivanovo?

In the 80s of the last century a small zoo was opened in the city Palace of Pioneers and schoolchildren. Here, children could watch animals, learn to look after them and listen to lectures about nature. At the Palace of Pioneers was also opened a circle of young naturalists. Originally, the exhibition of animals was located in only two rooms. As living "exhibits" there were hamsters, rabbits, parrots, turtles and monkeys. The collection of zoogold was replenished, and in 1992 a separate room was allocated.

Immediately after moving to the teachers and children visiting the circle, it seemed that the new territory was huge. However, very soon it turned out that there was again no place for all animals. In 1994, it was decided to create a "City Children's Zoological Park". On the land allocated for the implementation of the project, construction began. And the work of the Ivanovo Zoo for visitors was started in 1996.

Opened in such a difficult time for the whole country, Ivanovo Zoo has experienced really hard times. Moments lacked money for animal feed and staff salaries. In total, the zoo can see more than 150 species of animals living in the natural environment in different parts of the world. The total number of individuals is more than 800 units. During a visit to the main urban exhibition of the world fauna, you can see leopards, bears, bison, lynx, deer, monkeys, peacocks, owls, pheasants and many other exotic animals. Ivanovo Zoo is active in scientific and educational activities. At the zoo, mugs for children are working, lectures and other cultural and cognitive activities are held regularly. Ticket price and mode of operation

Visit the zoo in Ivanovo in the summer can be from 10:00 to 20:00, and in winter - from 10:00 to 15:00. During the school holidays the zoo works without days off. At study time, Monday and Tuesday are days off. Sale of tickets ends an hour before the end of the zoo. Children under the age of 5 can visit the exhibition of animals completely free of charge. The cost of a full adult ticket is 150 rubles. Entrance for students, pensioners and children over 5 years old costs 100 rubles.

Ivanovo Zoo allows visitors to take pictures of their own equipment without restriction. The only requirement is to turn off the flash, as it can blind animals. Observe the rules of behavior, try to behave yourself and not to frighten animals. Feeding animals without the permission of zoo employees is prohibited.
