Is it possible to drink water during training, and how should this be done?

Can I drink water during training? This question is especially interesting for those who recently began to attend the gym. It should be noted that there are quite a lot of disagreements about this. Some argue that you can not use liquid during physical exercises, while others hold the opposite opinion. Who of them is right, and still you can drink water during training, we find out just below.

In order to answer the question posed, first of all it is necessary to find out what is happening to a person, or rather, to his organism, during active exercises.

Firstly, the muscle tissues produce a tremendous amount of heat during exercise. Secondly, in order to avoid overheating, the body is forced to increase its heat emission due to intensive release of sweat. Thirdly, while exercising, breathing becomes much deeper and more frequent. Fourth, the vessels in the muscle tissues expand, and therefore the volume of blood increases significantly.

Thus, drinking water during training is necessary, since the fluid is needed by the muscles to significantly accelerate the delivery of glycogen (from internal organs) to them, as well as to remove decay products (toxins, slags, etc.) from the body. Therefore, most people before the classes in the gym almost always get a bottle of "spring".

Finding out if you can drink water during training, you should think about what kind of liquid should be. Of course, during the sport it is not recommended to drink juices, sodas, teas, coffee, milk drinks, cocoa and other sweets. Water during training must be:

  • Disinfected (that is, without pathogenic microorganisms). If the liquid is taken from the tap, then it is desirable to boil it in advance.
  • Drinking (from a tap or purchased in a store).
  • Non-carbonated, since carbon dioxide can inflate the stomach and cause belching.
  • Room temperature.
  • In sufficient quantity prepared in advance.

Is it possible to drink water during training, and how? It is worth noting that with strength exercises, it is recommended to drink fluid every 12-17 minutes. It should not be drunk in large quantities, as it will be absorbed very slowly. In between the lifts of the bar enough to do just a couple of sips. Limitations on whether it is worth to drink water before training or after, there are absolutely no. But it is also not recommended to abuse it. After all, it will be quite difficult to engage in simulators, if before that you drank about 3 liters of fluid.

Summing up, you can safely say that drinking filtered water during intensive training is not only possible, but also extremely necessary. However, it is recommended to do this in small sips every quarter of an hour. At the same time, you should always listen to your own organism and give it what it requires at this point in time. Only in this way physical exercises will benefit your body, and the result will not take you too long to wait.
