Indulgate - it literally means: thoughts about thoughts
The meaning of the word "indulge" turns out to be very complicated and confusing. To explain it, a lot of knowledge is required. We are much more accustomed to a medieval indulgence, familiar from history, which meant "leniency", when a person can atone for his money, without repentance, his former, present and future sins. However, "indulging" is something else.
The personality of Carlos Castaneda
Carlos Castaneda is a man of Latin American descent who deliberately obscured personal information about himself. He introduced the word "indulgate" into modern language, the meaning of which we will consider below. Castaneda to such a degree mythologized his life, that we do not know when and where he was born, what he did before moving to the United States in 1951. At the University of California, he received a bachelor's degree in anthropology and managed to knock out a grant to visit Central Mexico. The result was a book that was written under the influence of his teacher-Indian, magician and shaman don Juan. It was published as a novel, which became a bestseller and brought the author a lot of money.
Reasons for popularity
In Western countries, where everyone rummages in his mind and subconscious and is accustomed to attending psychotherapists and psychiatrists, Castaneda's research was highly appreciated. He became a doctor of philosophy and professor of his Alma mater. For rational, healthy consciousness, which is brought up on Russian philosophical thought, this all seems delusional, for he knew the "supreme revelation", which he willingly shared with everyone in his subsequent works.
Esoteric world
Entering the shaky realm of mysticism and esotericism, we first of all pay attention to what he understood and whether he really understood what he himself wrote about the word "indulge." This means letting yourself feel sorry for yourself. In fact, there is a strong impression that this is just a set of words. How can you not spare yourself in the event that a close and dear person died? And then, then, you should not notice this real grief, but it is necessary to indulge. This is blasphemous.
What the spirit develops
The West is looking for "spirituality" in all the mystical teachings: carton-breaded exported Krishnaism, Zen Buddhism, which is wildly popular, finally, in the teachings of Castaneda, where indulging is to weaken one's will and condone its desires.
Adequate assessment of the situation
According to the teachings of Castaneda, the person himself, without his help, is not able to assess the situation in which he is. This refers to stress.
We examined what it means to "indulge" and whether this concept is applicable in Russia.
