Improvisation is ... Meaning of a word

In the modern world, "improvisation" is a term that has long gone beyond the limits of creativity. He meets in cooking and on television, in jurisdiction and even in science. What is the meaning of this word? How to decipher it and which side is best viewed?

General interpretation

The term "improvisation" is a modified Latin word improviso, which is translated "without preparation". This is how the technique of creativity is characterized, in which the creation and execution of a certain idea is made simultaneously. Sometimes a specific theme is selected for improvisation, which helps the author to direct his efforts in a certain direction. Well, it also happens that improvisation is created without any stylistic restrictions.

This term is widely used in all spheres of creativity: in painting and sculpture, in music and literature, in dances, ballet performances and opera rooms. Recently, improvisation has migrated to everyday life and has become an integral part of almost all spheres of human activity.

Improvisation in music

To all musicians from school times, a certain technique of composition is well known. The bottom line is that in the exam it is necessary to fulfill your creation, writing it literally right away. Often, teachers ask subjects and even define a musical form - a play, a nocturne, a rondo, a sonata, etc. A tonality can be chosen in which it is necessary to play improvisation, tempo and the number of measures.

Such clear boundaries, as a rule, are set for pupils who are weak in composition, but it is not difficult for them to perform a virtuoso work written already. If the student has creative skills, the conditions for which he needs to compose become much less. And separately it is worth emphasizing that musical improvisation is an ephemeral thing, it can not be repeated or remembered. The only way to capture a similar composition is audio and video recordings.

Painting and sculpture

These types of art are already material, that is, they can be felt and considered. Therefore, the essence of pictorial improvisation lies in the fact that the artist paints without a sketch, without preliminary sketches and without drafts. As in music, they can ask a specific topic, or they can miss this moment.

As a result, we get a picture that does not accurately convey the proportions, shadows and colors, but it frankly demonstrates to the public the mood of its author and his state of mind. Some believe that improvisations on canvas have caused the appearance of such styles as impressionism and expressionism.

Literature and Rhetoric

The author working on a bestseller always has the opportunity to discard a draft, correct his text and correct mistakes. His colleague, who improvises on paper, does not have such a privilege. The main task - using one attempt, competently, concisely and on the topic write a story, article, poem, etc.

A similar requirement is also for speakers who speak to the public. They can no longer focus on a sheet with a pre-prepared text, since they must communicate coherently and intelligibly to one or another question, relying solely on their logic and eloquence. Of course, in that case the best improvisation is a prepared improvisation, consisting of facts and truths that can be relied upon. Therefore, many representatives of such professions take on this statement, remember all the most basic, and the rest is applied along the way.

Theater and cinema

For many actors, improvisation is an integral part of creativity. They play, writing on the move in the frame and on the stage, thus making the picture truly genius. This feature is often attributed to Hollywood stars - Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Nicholson and many others. But what can we say about Hollywood, if such an art form was successful in ancient Rome! It was there that for the first time the actors began to "make a stand" on the stage, voicing not only the dialogues of their own production, but also inventing new events that change the course of the script.

Modern dance

To dance without a certain preparation is a talent given to far from everyone, so a genre was created on its basis called "contact improvisation". This is a special kind of modern dance, in which there is a certain point of contact with a partner.

Both participants of this action continuously touch each other, but constantly shift their point of contact. In parallel, they make improvisational movements to music, rolling through each other, performing plie, jumping and other techniques.

In order to perform contact improvisation, you do not need to have a stretch or own any technique. One has only to feel the music and one's partner, and also visually imagine what will look like this or that figure that you are going to portray.

Probably, you already understood that you can improvise always and everywhere: in the kitchen, creating new recipes, at work, doing it not as you always do, and in everyday conversations with people around you.
