Hypoglycemia: Symptoms and Treatment

Sugar is called a white death, we are frightened from all sides by carbohydrates. That's only the brain prefers glucose (only three days without it, it starts to eat ketone bodies). Therefore, the decrease in its level in the blood is dangerous for human life, whose blood sugar regulation systems are abnormal. Of course, in 95% of cases hypoglycemia is discussed in connection with diabetes mellitus. But the slimming people try not to allow it, so as not to eat sweet, starving. How to identify hypoglycemia without special medical devices?

Hypoglycemia can be of three degrees, mild, moderate and severe. Specific figures of the amount of sugar can be individual for different people. After all, the brain is unique, as a unique personality. So:

Mild hypoglycemia: symptoms

These signs are also in healthy people, they are simply unpleasant, but not dangerous:

  • Nausea, and against the background of hunger, when there is, in principle, nothing to tear;
  • Strong, "bestial" feeling of hunger, when you want to eat up to the pain in your stomach;
  • Unreasonable external circumstances, anxiety, sudden fear;
  • Sticky cold sweat against the background of lack of physical strain;
  • Heart palpitation, which is very unpleasant;
  • Numbness of the lips or fingertips.

Average hypoglycemia: symptoms

With moderate hypoglycemia, the nervous system will suffer, so urgent measures must be taken. Watch out if you:

  • There are sharp changes in mood, anger, irritability, an unbearable feeling of anxiety;
  • Inability to concentrate, slow thinking, confusion;
  • Dizziness and pain, the image "floats";
  • Weakness, it is difficult to get up from a lying position;
  • Violations of coordination, movements are awkward, a person touches objects more often than usual;
  • It's hard to talk, there may be stuttering and long pauses during the conversation;
  • Drowsiness and falling asleep even in uncomfortable conditions (you can not sleep, a coma may begin!).

Already at this stage you need to take action. If it's a diabetic - candy-candy and insulin. If not diabetic - call an ambulance. Describe the status of the operator in detail.

Severe hypoglycemia: symptoms

Life threatening condition. It is shown:

  • Seizures or seizures;
  • Coma or loss of consciousness;
  • A sharp drop in temperature.

At this condition, a non-medic can not help. If your loved one is ill, only the ambulance will save you. The brain does not receive nutrition and dies if it lasts long enough. The heart is very afflicted, especially if there are any pathologies in its blood supply (and there are very few cardiologically healthy ones). If you do not receive help urgently, a person dies. Therefore, even at the stage of moderate hypoglycemia, one must actively seek medical help.

Hypoglycemia in children is no less dangerous. A child can not always describe his symptoms so that a person without a medical education understands him. The child has trembling limbs, drowsiness, sweating, irritability, pale skin and unusually severe hunger.

Hypoglycemia, the symptoms of which we discussed, can be observed not only with diabetes, but also with increased production of insulin (often in children). In both cases, it is possible to help the loved one or yourself independently only with mild or moderate severity of the condition (and even then with the average one needs to be vigilant and, when the first measures fail, call an ambulance).

Light hypoglycemia treatment involves mainly dietary. With diabetes, you need to monitor sugar and eat while lowering it, in combination with insulin. And with hyperinsulinism, nutrition is frequent, a person should receive regular mild physical exertion, and foods high in carbohydrates are excluded.

Sugar deficiency is a serious condition, so if it's bad for a person near you, do not try to determine the degree, but look for help.
