How to treat prolapse of the rectum?

The prolapse of the rectum is characterized by the exit of the intestinal layers through the anus to the outside. The bowel can fall off partially (when only the mucous membrane appears) or completely (when the layers fall out).

Rectal prolapse can occur in three stages:

  1. At the first, the easiest stage, falls out during defecation. In this situation, the gut itself returns to its place.
  2. In the second stage, the intestine falls out when the person exerts himself a strong physical load. Independently the gut does not return to the site. It is necessary to correct it.
  3. The third stage - the most difficult - is characterized by the fact that loss can occur even while walking. After refocusing, the gut quickly falls again.

Rectal prolapse, the symptoms of which are discussed below, should be treated in the presence of the first signs of the disease. So, when the fallout occurs as a result of an overload, it is considered an acute form of the disease. Everything happens so quickly and unexpectedly for the body that the pains are very strong. The stomach or belly hurts basically. Also, the patient may experience shock or collapse from the pain.

Often in people who suffer frequent constipation, prolapse of the rectum is observed regularly. Such people become problematic to emptying, so they take various kinds of laxatives.

Also, the incontinence of a loose stool and flatulence of the intestine is one of the bright signs of a prolapse of the intestine. They are the result of frequent constipation. During this, there are severe pains in the abdomen, which stop with rectification of the rectum.

It happens that people suffering from falling out at any stage may have mucous (sometimes bloody) discharge, it is also possible the presence of sensation of an alien body in the sphincter region and the constant urge to urinate. Moreover, the emptying of the bladder, as a rule, is rapid and intermittent.

Once again, we note that prolapse of the rectum, treatment of which is strictly individual, can not be ignored even in the initial stage.

If this disease is found in children, doctors try to find alternative methods (exercise therapy, enemas with special sclerosing drugs) to avoid surgical intervention. If such conservative treatment is used in the treatment of adults, it will not give the desired result.

As prevention, you need to use in the diet foods rich in vegetable fiber (bran, zucchini, cabbage, Jerusalem artichoke, Bulgarian pepper and much more). It would be useful for children to learn how to empty the intestines at the same time. Every day you need to take vitamins. Remember that physical exercises to strengthen the muscles of the rectum are a good prevention of its prolapse. If conservative treatment does not work, then surgery is necessary.

If suddenly you feel a sudden prolapse of the rectum, or if it happened to your child, do not try to correct it with sharp movements and quickly. You need to lie on your back or on your side, lubricate it with petroleum jelly or petrolatum oil and carefully, without damaging the mucous membrane, fix it.

When this disease is overtaken by people already in adulthood, then, as a rule, it is eliminated through surgical intervention. Often, loss can be accompanied by the omission of the vagina or uterus (in the female half of the population). In the presence of such diseases, a woman complains of frequent urge to urinate, as well as to the loss of the uterus. In this case, treatment should be carried out together with a gynecologist.

Remember that after noticing the first signs of loss and feeling a pain in the abdomen, immediately contact a proctologist. The earlier the better!
