How to spend a holiday weekend in June everyone decides for himself

In Russia they like holidays. This conclusion can be made by studying the calendar. In the year 365 days, and the grid of the Russian calendar is full of two hundred holidays celebrated in the country.

Public holidays, declared public non-working days, however, not so much. In January, the days off from 1 to 8, New Year and Christmas are celebrated. In February, 23, congratulate the defenders of the Fatherland. In March, the 8th - International Women's Day. In May, the first day - the Spring Festival and the working people, on the same day the whole nation honors the winners in the Great War. Weekend in June complements only one holiday, on the 12th day - Day of Russia. In November 4, the Russians celebrate the Day of National Unity.

According to the law, if the holiday coincides with the days off, then it is transferred to the working day, which follows the holiday weekend. That people are tuned and prepared for the holiday, they work on the eve of the reduced schedule.

The weekend in June complements the Day of Russia. He is the "youngest" state holiday. Officially until 2002, it was called the Day of the Declaration on the State Sovereignty of Russia. The founder was Boris Yeltsin, the President of Russia, who established this holiday in honor of the signing in 1990 of the Declaration of Sovereignty of the Russian Federation.

Citizens did not understand what should be celebrated, and perceived the holiday as an extra weekend in June to go to the sea or weed the beds in the country. Apparently, for realizing the significance of this holiday, it would take a long time.

And in fact, the state weekend on June 12 is a difficult holiday. It was with the signing of the Declaration that the First Congress of the RSFSR deputies began a documentary history of democracy in Russia. Sovereignty in the Declaration is interpreted as a natural and necessary condition for the existence of the institution of Russian statehood, which has a history of several centuries, ancient traditions and a special culture.

Interrogating people, journalists and sociologists found out that the people did not accept the first attempt to give the holiday the significance of the main state celebration. The conquest of democracy was felt by few. Later, to shorten the long name, the holiday became known as the Independence Day. But from whom they previously depended, the Russians also did not understand.

June 12 is a significant date, the same day a year after the Declaration was signed, in 1991 Democrat Boris Yeltsin won the first nationwide direct open elections and became the President of the Russian Federation. In 1998, the President proposed to celebrate the Day of Russia. Although the official status was received by the holiday only in 2002, on February 1, simultaneously with the entry into force of the provisions of the new Labor Code.

In recent years, Russia's Day is not just a weekend in June. In the cities and villages throughout the country, noisy and cheerful fairs are held on this day. They conduct their "March of Million" active Russians, members of protest movements. Not only are politically active citizens marching, but also creative youth, who conduct their theatrical processions. Sports-active Russians are also not inactive, conduct mass sports competitions, football matches, etc. In the evening, across the country, concerts are organized, in the finale of which colorful colorful fireworks are launched.

Those citizens who want to spend time unusually can take part in carnivals, reconstructions of significant battles, in football and other flash mobs. But if someone wants to spend these days off in June at country cottages, then no one can prohibit them. And the rally is mandatory, as in the old Soviet times no one will drive, democracy is the freedom of choice.
