How to raise the density of electrolyte in the battery?

Sometimes even after one day of downtime the car refuses to start. It turns out that even in such a short time, the density of the electrolyte in the battery can decrease to the extreme. Of course, this does not happen every day, but there is still the risk of being late for work or an important meeting. Therefore, every week you need to monitor the condition of the battery and, if necessary, charge it. But what if even this process does not help restore the previous characteristics of the battery? Let's figure this out.

Why does this happen?

When even after a long charge the car still does not start, this indicates that the density of the electrolyte in the battery has dropped to the extreme point. In this case, there is no need to rush anywhere, since the process of restoring this part is very long. And there is a low density of electrolyte in the battery because of its frequent overcharging. Such actions often lead to the evaporation of the solution and the boiling of this part. Therefore, if the level of the battery lasts 20 minutes at a minimum, the density of the electrolyte in the battery is significantly reduced.

How to get out of this situation?

In order to restore the old density of the battery, you should add a fresh electrolyte to it. Thanks to such a liquid, the problematic part immediately lifts its consistency.

Recovery Instructions

Below you can see the process by which a low density of electrolyte in the battery will be increased.

First of all, measure the readings of the problem part using a hydrometer. If the density readings are lower than 1.20, you should know that the battery needs your attention. The process of "saving" the battery by charging the electrolyte with a density of 1.28 is carried out. To begin with, we do this with one jar. To increase the density, as much as possible of the old solution should be pumped out. This is done with the help of an instrument such as an enema-pear. After the liquid is pumped out, you should measure its volume. Next, you need to put a new electrolyte in the battery. But this is not the whole process.

In order for the electrolyte density in the accumulator to rise to normal in winter, it is necessary to mix both fluids well. To do this, it is necessary to shake or shake the battery well. Then, after both electrolytes have become one whole, we measure their density. In the case where the results showed an unsatisfactory mark, pour a few more milliliters of fresh electrolyte into the jar. This process is repeated until the value of the measuring instruments shows a mark above 1.25. The remaining volume of cans should be filled with distilled water. But in no case is it worth pouring it all the capacity, because in this case the density of the electrolyte in the battery will fall even further, and nothing good will end there.

Helpful advice

Before starting work, remember that The hydrometer should show uneven results when measured. The optimal range should be between 1.25 and 1.29. If you stay in the northern latitudes, these results should be slightly higher than the southern ones, but not more than 0.02.
