How to lower leukocytes in blood or urine?

As is known, leukocytes are special blood cells that play a major role in protecting the body. Their number in urine, blood and in a smear depends on a variety of factors and diseases. To bring the level of these white blood cells back to normal, for example, to increase or decrease white blood cells, depending on the cause, patients are prescribed medication, diet or folk methods.

The causes of an increase in the level of leukocytes in the blood

Normally, the human body should be 4-9 billion (from 4 E10 to 9 E10) of leukocytes in 1 liter of blood. The increase in the number of white blood cells in the blood, or leukocytosis, can be both physiological, that is, it occurs in quite healthy people in some situations, and pathological, when its cause lies in some disease.

Physiological leukocytosis is observed:

  • After intense psycho-emotional or physical exertion;
  • After eating, and the number of leukocytes in this case does not exceed 10-12 billion per liter of blood.
  • After a long stay in cold water or taking hot baths;
  • In women a few days before the onset of menstruation;
  • During the second half of pregnancy.

With pathological leukocytosis, serious measures are required to lower leukocytes. This pathology is caused by:

  • Inflammatory diseases such as appendicitis, pleurisy, pancreatitis, pneumonia, meningitis, otitis media, arthritis, etc .;
  • Burns of 3-4 degrees;
  • Heart attacks;
  • Abundant blood loss, kidney problems, leukemia and uremia.

Folk remedies for lowering the level of leukocytes in the blood

As it was said above, the increased level of leukocytes in the blood can be a consequence of serious diseases, therefore, in case of problems with leukocytes, it is necessary immediately to consult a hematologist. However, if the cause of leukocytosis are ARVI, influenza and other such diseases, then it is possible to lower leukocytes in the blood with folk remedies using decoction of lime blossom, which is brewed from the calculation of 1 st. L. Lime-colored for 1 cup of boiling water, put on a fire and boil for 10 minutes. Then decoction is filtered and drink 2-3 glasses instead of tea. Patients who have liver problems, for example, patients with hepatitis, must follow a diet that excludes the use of whole fried, smoked, spicy and fatty foods, as well as quitting smoking and drinking alcohol. As for patients who are diagnosed with heart diseases such as stroke or myocardial infarction, they need to cure the root cause. And usually in such cases it is often possible to lower leukocytes without taking additional measures.

The causes of changes in the level of leukocytes in the urine

Normally, the urine test for women should show 0-6 white blood cells, and 0-3 for men. If, as a result of urine analysis, leukocytes were found to deviate from the norm, this means that some inflammatory processes are taking place in the body. Two situations are possible: leukocyturia - an increase in the level of white blood cells in the urine, which requires immediate measures to lower leukocytes, and leukopenia, when the opposite picture is observed. Leukocyturia usually signals that the patient has such diseases of the urinary system as pyelonephritis, cystitis or urethritis. In addition, if it is a question of men, the raised level of leucocytes in urine can signal problems with a prostate gland. At the same time, a similar result of the urine test for leukocytes is an occasion for suspicion of the patient having kidney damage in amyloidosis, tuberculosis or glomerulonephritis. As for leukopenia, this is a sign of infectious, often chronic diseases, and may also be a consequence of prolonged stress.

Ways to reduce the level of leukocytes in the urine

After the patients are informed that the analysis of his urine testifies to the presence of leukocyturia, the first thing that usually interests them is how to lower the white blood cells in the urine. However, it should be understood that this will be possible only if the underlying disease is cured. Most often, antibiotics are used to fight infections that lead to an increase in the number of white blood cells in the urine. An exception is cystitis. In this case, it is possible to lower leukocytes in urine with the help of folk remedies, without using medicines. For example, it is recommended to increase the amount of liquid consumed during the day, and take warm medicinal baths with a decoction of eucalyptus and chamomile taken in a 1: 1 ratio.

Why can the number of white blood cells in the smear be increased?

At each visit to the gynecologist, women are taken a smear on the flora, which is also investigated, including the level of leukocytes. It is believed that in normal for a healthy woman in the field of view of the microscope can be found 15-20 white blood cells. If this number is exceeded, it can be argued that the genital area is an inflammatory process, which is caused by infections transmitted through sexual intercourse, as well as vaginitis or colpitis. In this case, there is usually a need for additional immunological, bacteriological and other studies, the results of which often indicate that the detected infections were present in the body for a long time and made themselves felt when the immunity decreased for one reason or another. Especially often such phenomena are observed in pregnant women - hormonal changes in the body and changes in the immune system cause activation of various pathogenic processes.

How to lower white blood cells in a smear?

If the situation is not critical and you can get by with folk remedies, then to lower the leukocytes in a vaginal smear, you can recommend resorting to daily douche douches with a warm decoction of chamomile (2 tablespoons of raw material per 1/2 liters of water). You can also do warm sessile baths from time to time with decoction from the bark of oak, St. John's wort, chamomile, nettle and red root. To do this, all these ingredients are mixed in equal proportions and brewed in an opaque container (4 tablespoons dry collection in 3 liters of boiling water). It should be remembered that the bath water should be within 40-45 degrees, so as not to cause burns of the genitals and skin.
