How to draw an academic drawing?
Students of secondary and higher art educational institutions know firsthand what an academic drawing is, because it is usually included in the curriculum. This is a completely separate kind of drawing, which can be attributed to the teaching. Experienced painters also apply it in their works, but as an outline, preparing for a more ambitious and responsible picture.
Academic drawing is performed on white or toned paper. In the first case, the lightest shade is considered to be the leaf, and the darkest one is the saturated tone of the pencil. On tinted paper, bright chalk is used to give the image a glare. Varying tones from the lightest to the darkest depends on the skill of the artist and the ability to use materials.
Depending on the setting, several types are distinguished, into which the academic figure is divided: portrait, figure in clothes or nude, torso, bust, hands, different position of the figure. Drawing the picture is gradual, but not from one corner to another: the parts of the picture are displayed simultaneously, just in time, detailed, refined, gain the right, more saturated tone.
The next stage is the construction of planes, volumes, shapes, prospects. To plausibly portray a person, you need to know the anatomy of the body, know the direction and location of the muscles. You also need to depict the plane in which the figure is located. Hatching is considered the last, final step. Here the artist should not only correctly choose the tone, but also the direction of the stroke, its appearance and thickness. Hatching allows you to draw objects closer or further, in a horizontal or vertical position, to form a shadow and light.
