How to conduct parent meetings: recommendations

Currently, several forms of teacher interaction with the pupil's parents are singled out. Among them there is an individual conversation, joint cooperation, etc. However, the most effective for today are the parent meetings.

The system of cooperation with the family should be thought out and organized, since this is an important part of the education of the student, especially in the primary school. Spontaneous, not having a clear structure, parents' meetings will cause parents and mothers only anxiety and bewilderment. Such an event will not bring any results, as it is ineffective. Most often, the meetings cover general issues related to the organization of the educational process. At the same time, most teachers prefer to act as an active speaker, and parents can only perceive the information they receive. And it does not always achieve the desired result.

Therefore, it is worthwhile to dwell more on how to organize and hold a parent meeting in an elementary school, so that it really is a form of active interaction between the teacher and adults raising a child. It is recommended to hold this event at least once a quarter. However, everything depends on the characteristics of the class, as well as the accumulation of current issues that need to be resolved collectively. It is perfectly permissible to invite adults to school once a month.

An organizational parent meeting in the 1st grade is held in late August or early September. Here it is just appropriate to acquaint parents with the regime, to discuss questions of the school uniform, pupils' equipment. At the end of May, the results are summed up. In the rest of the time, adults are invited mainly to thematic parent meetings. Their goal is not only to discuss current problems, but also to talk about some subtleties in the upbringing of children. At the same time, the topic of the meeting should be quite relevant and touch the majority of those present.

Preparation and implementation of the event are carried out in several stages. Firstly, this is the invitation of the parents. You can confine yourself to an oral announcement of the date and time, or you can show creativity and give the students beautiful cards or invitation cards, in which you must mention the topics that will be discussed.

The next step is to develop a scenario with a thought over of all the details. The form of the meeting can be different: a conference, a debate, etc. Actions that parents are not passive listeners but active participants are rather effective. When discussing organizational issues, first of all, it is necessary to report on what has already been done, and only then to plan something new. In the end, you should leave time for personal conversations with parents of students who have problems. Too prolong the event is not worth it, its duration should not exceed 40-50 minutes.

Parental meetings should help educate parents, and not be a simple statement of the poor progress or mistakes of children. Psychologists do not recommend the teacher to use an instructive, instructive tone in communication.
