Hose for compressor. How to choose and what to take into account?

The hose for the compressor, or, as it is also called in another way, the "sleeve", is selected taking into account several parameters. Consider the main ones.

Working pressure

It is the most important, since if this parameter does not correspond to the load exerted on the hose, its destruction will occur gradually, the result of which is a break. Therefore, it is necessary to approach it with great responsibility. The pressure at work of the mains to which the hose for the compressor is connected can reach 10 atmospheres in individual cases, but usually it does not exceed 8 bar. Despite the fact that the pneumatic tool is capable of operating at the above-mentioned pressure, there may be a situation where the regulator controlling the load is already set to maximum. In this case, for further work, it is necessary to increase the value, but this can not be done. All the pressure created by the installation will fall on the hose for the compressor. That is why when choosing it is necessary to take into account the maximum possible load. Virtually any compressor hose has a certain margin of safety (from 2.5: 1 to 4: 1), but do not forget that excessive load leads to rapid wear of the device.

Consumption of compressed air

Buying a rubber hose for the compressor, take into account its internal diameter, which directly affects the flow it takes. To properly select this parameter, you need to know the flow rate of the compressor unit. On most such devices, these data are printed directly on the body. If they are not there - check the product passport. The largest diameter has a main hose. When selecting it, it is necessary to take into account the possible length of the entire existing highway.

Working temperature

This characteristic allows the hose for the compressor to be in working condition for a given range of temperature fluctuations. At high loads, the temperature rises and, as a consequence, the hose's resistance to excessive pressure decreases , and as a result of exposure to an air installation of low temperatures, the walls of the connecting sleeve may break down, and their cracking may occur. Therefore, in order to avoid such a situation, it is necessary to take into account the material from which the air hose for the compressor is made. A small range of operating temperatures have PVC sleeves.

Also, in addition to the above parameters, the compressor hose used for working with the pneumatic tool must be lightweight, flexible and durable enough. If the installation connected to it has a small power, up to 100 l / min, the best option is a polyamide or polyurethane tube. In some cases, with large production capacities, it is better to use a spiral hose. It has a greater resource, and for its reliability you do not have to worry.

So, now you know which basic parameters to consider when choosing a pneumatic hose.
