Horse of the breed of Percheron: photo, price and description of the breed

The name of the Perseron breed horse originated from the name of the French province of Perche, where they were bred. The emergence of this breed took place gradually and for many centuries.

History of the origin of the breed

After a constant crossing (beginning with the XIII century), the eastern Arabs with western heavy-duty trucks brought out a breed of percheron. However, most sources date back to the mid-19th century. At that time, the most famous and brightest horses of the Perseron breed were bred.

In the remaining centuries there was a gradual and regular improvement. On the famous stud farms the crossing of the already existing horse of the breed with Persian racers continued. This made it possible to withdraw a large and strong heavy vehicle with a soft and simultaneously active step. In the future, for example, the breed of percheron became the basis for the withdrawal of the breed of Belarusian harness.

Purpose of the breed

The horses of the breed were excavated for work in a harness, cart or carriage. They were to serve as a knight with armor all the day long without fatigue, and at the same time the rider himself was not tired of riding such a horse. She had to smoothly go into the trot and also smoothly stop. If the driver is harnessed into a carriage, then the carriage should be soft and smooth, so that the ride is as comfortable and convenient for passengers as possible.

The horses of the breed were liberated with the qualities that demand was at that time. After the departure of the knights in history, tribal breeders of the breed place emphasis on such percherons that carry weights in the city and in the countryside. For the army, they took out lighter individuals so that they could easily and under the saddle go.

With the passage of time, the percheron was divided according to its growth:

  • Small Percherons. They go for horse riding and can quickly ride in a harness.
  • Medium. These are more suitable for harness riding. They were harnessed to carriages for traveling, they delivered the mail and doctors to their destination on time.
  • Large. Such horses were used for transportation of very heavy loads or for agricultural work.

In times of lack of railways and cars, there was strong demand On horse breeds, the price was very large. The withdrawal of a hardy, strong and at the same time soft, with Arab delicacy, of the breed was a great breakthrough in the breeding of horses.

Breeders bred and sold percheron all over the world. Demand for them has skyrocketed. The percherons worked in the fields and helped the army, transported the goods and delivered people to different cities. The horses of this breed were almost universal. They easily learned everything their people taught them. Riders perfectly cope with almost all equestrian functions and were multifunctional for humans.

Exterior of Persheron

A beautiful horse has a beautiful aesthetic appearance. The photo shows a good exterior - a large strong horse with a wide bone and a massive chest. The height of the withers of percherons is from 1.60 m, the girth of the chest is from 2 m, the length of the trunk is 1,7 m along the oblique. The readings differ depending on the sex and functional purpose of the percheron.

The color of percheron also undergoes changes depending on the time - from the stern or the red to the black and gray. At present, it is customary to consider that the color of the percheron breed is only gray, usually in apples, and black color.

Perchers have one very rare quality - it's smooth and non-stop riding both in the harness and under the saddle. Endurance and patience of this breed is the most valuable quality and puts it on an elite level in the equestrian world.

Some percheron for a long time, tails were cut. It was a tribute to fashion or customs, or a security guarantee when riding in a harness. The tail of a horse is absolutely necessary to protect it from insects. Only in 1996, with the help of animal advocates, a ban was introduced to stop the tails of Persherons.

Adaptation of the breed

Due to the centuries-old excretion of rock, Persheron has acquired an excellent ability to adapt to existing conditions. It is easily kept under the open sky in the conditions of French weather - mild winter and a lot of natural food in the form of green grass.

Percherons can live and adapt to any conditions - from hot heat to severe cold. Due to the gradual breeding of the breed, they have been adapted to different climatic conditions and now have some resistance to the most common horse diseases.

Character and nature of the percheron

Percheron has a good temper and great patience. At the same time, he is quite active and mobile. Percheron has a quick reaction and a clever mind. They do not require careful and special conditions of maintenance, for example, like some demanding horse riding horses.

The horses of this breed are quickly trained. They are sensitive and understandable and have a calm disposition. Persheron is very easy to teach to plow or train a performance on the circus arena. He is submissive, has a good temper. Such a horse is effective and graceful.

Breeding history

In the 19th century there was a peak of popularity of the breed. Persherons were widely bred and actively sold throughout France. This breed was bought by such countries as USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay. The Society of Percherons, which were created to breed pure breeds, is widely spread.

The first such societies were established in the United States. They helped spread and breed. Horses were brought to the country and propagated for use in field work. They plowed and harrowed the land, for example, in Canada eight perchers were harnessed to the plow, and they plowed up to 6 hectares a day.

From the middle of the 20th century, with the arrival and rapid development of mechanization, the activity of their distribution decreases, and the horse of the breed of Percheron is less used. Dimensions, growth and exterior of the rock are becoming important elements for the conservation and continuation of pure breed. Percheron departs from rural work and is more often used as transport, in sports and leisure.

Breeding in Russia

Russia began importing percherons in 1891. The best stud studs with mares from France were brought to the Khrenovskaya stud farm. Over time, the plant produced a new type of percheron, which differed from European or American types. In 1941, the Khrenovo plant was moved to the October plant in Ulyanovsk.

The Ulyanovsk plant successfully spread the horse of the breed of percheron. The photo and cost of the sold "Ulyanovsk French" could be seen in all known horse markets. However, in 2011 the plant went bankrupt, and the court sold perchers for debts.

The stud farm in Tambov was engaged in percherons from the 60s of the last century. At this plant there were 26 horses of this breed. Their breeding was also carried out by the stud farms of Voronezh and Bryansk.

As a result of the breeding of Perserons by Russian stud farms, the following new breed lines were distinguished: Iksoda, Apra and Bardadym, Vuitri. However, due to the lack of constant renewal of the breed, the last three lines were lost, and at the moment only the Pershory is preserved along the Iksoda line.

For the growth or preservation of percherons, regular updates and replenishments at the stud farm by western stallions with percherons are needed. The most recent tribal replenishment was in 1991 at the October plant in Ulyanovsk.

Russian percherons have a number of differences in comparison with the western ones, which are larger and stronger. With the proper crossing of such breed lines, it is possible to improve the quality of new horses of the Russian line of percherons.

Coordination of the distribution of rock at the level of plants on a large scale in Russia at the moment is practically not happening. Perseronov breed and grow private breeders and amateurs. This reduces their number in Russia, but at the same time increases the value.

Cost

At the moment it is possible to buy a horse of the breed of Percheron in any country of the world. The price for it at the age of 5-10 years on the average is 8-10 thousand dollars. The cost of the foal will be cheaper 6 months. - 1.5 g., But it must be grown healthy and properly nurtured, which will also add costs. The horse, the photo, description and pedigree of which is proved by the presence of famous horses of this breed will be more expensive.

They are sold by both breeders and private individuals. The price depends not only on the age and condition of the horse, but also on the purity of the breed, the seller's conditions and other attendant factors.

Development of Persherons

Mares of the breed are well-nurtured by foals. From lighter and not massive species, there are excellent foals for hunting or for sport. All the foals of percherons, like heavy-duty horses, have a late maturation. In the foal, the period of childhood lasts up to 2 years.

The Perchheron fry need a high-grade fodder and a lot of movement. They have to walk a lot in the sun and air, only in this case they will form a correct physical constitution and develop a bone structure.

Percheron foals can stay outdoors for a long time and feed on grass. They quickly adapt to new conditions, and the period of adaptation and acclimatization takes place very quickly, sometimes even imperceptibly.

Modern Persheroes

At the end of the 20th century, 7 French percherons appeared in Baltika in St. Petersburg. A team of 4 huge gray horses goes around the city with a big barrel in the form of an original advertisement of the company "Baltika". For the continuation of the family in the company there are 3 mares.

Excellent perseveres in the circus. They are wonderful artists: spectacular, powerful, beautiful, yet graceful and graceful in movement. In Russia, for example, for many years, the 21-year-old white perecessor of Pompeii has been performing in the arena. The well-known balancer Yakov Shanikova beautifully shows along with him the number with hoops.

No matter what the name of the breeds of horses and what fame they have, any of them is part of an interesting, multifaceted and cognitive world that immerses in the good of all comers. A horse is an assistant on the field, a companion in battle, a doctor from depression and cerebral palsy, and also a reliable friend.
