Hormones of FLG. What it is?

For many decades, the main tool for diagnosing the functional readiness of the female reproductive system is the PLG. What it is? Reproduced by the pituitary gland of the brain, the hormone actually acts as a regulator of sexual function in both men and women. The level of this sex hormone in a woman's blood is diagnosed by almost every gynecologist specializing in infertility problems. Usually an analysis of the amount of a hormone in a woman's blood makes it possible to make a first impression of her reproductive health.

ФЛГ - what is it?

FLG is part of a group of hormones that are produced by the pituitary gland of the brain. In the human body, the hormone is responsible for the regulation of the functioning of the sexual glands, in particular, promotes the reproduction of sex cells.

In the male body, the hormone FLG exerts a stimulating effect on the growth of testosterone level in the blood, the work of the glands, ensuring normal maturation of the spermatozoa. In women, follicle-stimulating hormone not only promotes the healthy formation of the follicle, but also allows you to achieve ovulation.

The content of FLG in the body

Active release of the hormone into the blood comes with the onset of the estrogen phase, which falls on the first days of the menstrual cycle. With the active effect on the process of another luteinizing hormone secreted by the pituitary gland, estrogen begins to be released in the cells of the follicle, which is responsible for regulating sexual function.

As evidenced by the FLG analysis of a healthy organism, in the middle phase of the female cycle the amount of estrogen reaches peak values. Then follows the rupture of the follicle, from which comes out the ready-to-fertilize sex cell.

In the final phase of ovulation, when the level of FLG in the blood is significantly reduced, the so-called luteal phase occurs, during which the follicle becomes a fat-like mass and is naturally eliminated from the body. At this time, an elevated level of steroids interferes with the active production of hormones by the pituitary gland. Then the cycle resumes, the pituitary gland comes into active state and continues active production of PHG.

Norm of FLG

In the course of laboratory tests, the level of follicle-stimulating hormone in the body is measured by the content of its necessary norm per liter of blood. A fasting PHG is performed. And the analysis is performed between the 3rd and 5th day of the cycle in the follicular phase.

If the test revealed a deficiency of the hormone FLG, then the woman may have symptoms such as:

  • Absence of ovulation;
  • Irregular onset of menstruation;
  • Atrophic processes in the mammary glands and genitals;
  • infertility.

Elevated and reduced levels of LPG

What does the high level of LPG indicate? What it is? When there is an excess of the sex hormone in the body of a woman, the phenomenon can lead to uterine bleeding not associated with the menstrual cycle, or complete absence of menstruation.

The reasons for raising the level of the sex hormone:

  • Malfunctions in the functioning of the ovaries;
  • Presence of a tumor in the pituitary gland;
  • Excessive alcohol consumption;
  • Effects of exposure to the body of X-rays.

An overestimated level of follicle-stimulating hormone can cause the specialist to diagnose such diagnoses as orchitis, menopause, pituitary tumor, alcoholism or kidney failure.

If laboratory tests show an underestimated amount of follicle-stimulating hormones in a unit of blood volume, then this may indicate the development of processes: obesity, amenorrhea, hypothalamus hypophyseal and pituitary gland syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome.

How realistic is it to become pregnant with high levels of FLG?

Often, high rates of follicle-stimulating hormone indicate premature aging of the ovaries. At the same time, for many women the only way to pregnancy is artificial insemination by the artificial introduction of a healthy donor egg into the ovary. However, with targeted treatment using the latest advances in the field of women's health recovery, there are considerable prospects for natural conception.

Norm of FLG in children

When it comes to the content of the follicle-stimulating hormone in the child's body, there are separate norms for the measurement of FLG in the blood. The child's hormone content is markedly increased for a short period immediately after birth. Then its level gradually decreases until it reaches the norm.

At puberty in the child the norm or rate of FLG is slightly exceeded. What it is? It's all about the active work of the pituitary gland, characteristic of most adolescents. Sometimes there is insufficient production of follicle-stimulating hormone in the child's body. In this case, the child has a delayed sexual maturation.
