«Teacher of dances»: a short summary

Aldemaro, a representative of an impoverished noble family, without memory, is in love with the daughter of a noble and wealthy gentleman. Under a false name, a young man enters his house, where he appears to be a dance teacher.

The play was first staged in 1946 in the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army, after 7 years, its screen version was recorded. It was watched by almost 28 million viewers. In the difficult post-war time for people, exhausted by the long destructive war, this cheerful performance was like a breath of fresh air. The sparkling, talented play of actors fascinated, pleased, caused a lot of positive emotions, and the phrases from the play and its television version became winged. For example, a song performed by Aldemaro was repeatedly quoted by the Strugatsky brothers in their works ("Monday begins on Saturday", "An attempt to escape").

"Only he will achieve the goal, who does not know the word" fear ""

The role of Aldemaro, the dance teacher, was played by Vladimir Mikhailovich Zeldin. It was on the stage, in this production, that he first met Henrietta Ostrovskaya, who played Lisen - the maid of the beloved dance teacher - Florela. And the love duet with Gisi was not with Vladimir Zeldin (her future civil husband), but with Mark Pertsovsky, who embodied the image of the servant Aldemaro-Belardo.

As Vladimir Zeldin recalls in an interview, of them (Mark and Henrietta) turned out an incendiary comic couple, a great musical duo. Performed them couplets enjoyed a separate success with the viewer. Still, the "love" of these young people produced a comical impression: a small, agile Gisya, barely reaching the shoulder of a long, tall and thin, like a pencil, Mark.
