Humanity has endowed divination with the ability to disclose the future, to see important moments at the present time. This desire among the ancient Greeks and Romans was systematized and erected to the state level. Many philosophers supported the positive effect of divination. Thus, Pythagoras was fond of mantle. After Greece, the belief in divination turned to Rome. Books about the mantle "Ephemerides", "Petosiris" became tabletop and were read in almost every house. Fortune-telling is considered the remnant of pagan beliefs, which did not prevent to predict the harvest, the weather, the time of marriage and so on.

Ways of divination

To predict the future and talk about the past can be through various techniques. Conditionally we divide them into the following groups:

1. Fortune-telling on the heavenly signs (lightning, wind, rainbow and others). A guide to prediction based on meteorological phenomena resulted in the collection "Gromnik", which was assembled by King Irakli. In addition to this book, "Svyatoslavov Izbornik 1073" was found, which included instructions for people on different days and according to various purposes. At the moment, this kind of fortune telling exists in the form of many signs.

4. By the numbers. On a special position were considered numbers 3, 7, 9. This way of guessing was fond of Pythagoras. He brought it from Egypt. From there appeared another kind of digital prediction - geomancy. It is closely connected with astrology and consists in finding points that randomly settle on the ground and form groups and figures with special meanings.
5. With the help of dreams. The method consists in observing the images that arise in a dream, and their interpretation. Here attention was paid to the sleeping pose, the conditions of rest.
6. Divination with the ability to communicate with the souls of the dead (necromancy). This kind implies knowledge of magic and the rules of rituals. Today, this way of predicting is called spiritualism.
7. Cresmology. Divination is accomplished in a state of ecstasy, in the form of the revealed revelation of the gods. This includes shamanism, oracles and others.

The exact date of appearance of this method of prediction is difficult to name. But it is believed that the signs on the runes are symbols of painting on the rocks of the Bronze Age. The first to use them were the Celtic druids, then the Germanic and Scandinavian tribes. Only the soothsayers with magic power could read the runic signs. An Old Norse tradition tells that the rune of Odin is the gift of the same god. He nailed himself to the Yggdrasil Tree for knowledge of secrets. On the ninth day, God Odin saw the runes.

In total, there were 24 runes, but over time, there was another rune Odin, which symbolizes Destiny. Each rune had an individual name and was associated with a deity, object or phenomenon. The fortuneteller is personified by the second fallen rune. The first runic map will tell about the past, and the third one about the future. The fourth rune will tell you the true cause of the state or situation that has arisen, and the fifth will suggest the necessary actions to resolve them. The sixth rune is the result. If the Odin rune falls out, it can be interpreted as a need to stop and wait for a clue from Destiny.

In the old days the people used the "Zodiacal" layout for full prediction. In accordance with the 12 signs of the Zodiac and 12 astrological houses are laid out in pairs, 24 runes in a circle face down. They need to be opened with a sign under which the guesser is born.
