Guadalest - mountain treasure of Spain

The Valencian community carefully hid in its territories a small mountain town called Guadalest, which is not so easy to find if you have not heard anything about it before. The city, which is very lucky with natural resources, is surrounded on all sides by mountains, itself is located on a mountain, and even a wide blue river has its base. So if you relax on the coast, renting a villa in Spain, going there will be a real adventure!

Earlier in Guadalest lived a family of the noble family of Aurunya, the history and representatives of which you will be told by the guide to their castle, which has survived to our days. Here you can see how the apartments in Spain looked and in those parts in the past. The castle rooms lead to the top of the mountain, where the chapel with the cemetery is located, small alleys and observation platforms with incredible views of the houses, the river and the mountains. From the top you can see the highest mountain ranges of the province of Alicante - the Sierra Ajorta from the north, the Sierra de Aitana from the south and the Sierra Sirrey from the west.

This small town is a permanent residence for about 250 people, which does not prevent it from being popular with travelers from around the world. In addition to the castle, which is called the city, you can find here a huge number of shops with souvenirs and restaurants. There are also its own small church in Guadaleste and numerous miniature museums, such as the Antonio Marco doll museum, the Museum of Micro Giants, the Museum of Microminiatures, the Museum of Tortures, the Museum of Salt and Pepper, the Museum of Old Cars.

To go to Guadalest, it is best to rent a car with a navigator. This will make it much easier for you to find a small town, since it is hidden deep in the mountains. With a navigator, you can easily get there from any coastal city. If there is no navigator, then on the CV70 highway, from wherever you are, it is worthwhile to watch the signs and turn off Benidorm to Callosa de Ensarriá, then follow the signs for Guadalest / Alcoy ( Guadalest / Alcoi).

When entering the city, you can park your car in a wide parking lot, near which, by the way, there is an information and tourist office. There you can take the brochures and specify how you can go down to the river Guadalest. On the territory of the city you can have a delicious and satisfying lunch, as many restaurants offer a comprehensive menu, which usually includes two main dishes, dessert and drinks. In Guadalest you can buy excellent olive oil and other products that are produced in these parts, as well as taste local wines.

Take your picnic food with you if you do not want to spend money in restaurants. Going down to the river itself, which is 5-10 minutes by car down the hill, you will find beautiful quiet places for rest and seclusion. In the warm season, you can even swim in cool and clear water.

Time to get acquainted and get around Guadalest along and across, much will not be required. One full day will be enough. But this town is sure to be noted in your memory as a place enjoying its freedom and seclusion in the heart of the most beautiful mountain chains.
