Glue heat conducting: features and application of glue

Glue heat conductive is most often used to mount the cooler cooler to the processor or memory, installing LEDs, other parts on the radiator in those cases where the use of thermal paste and fasteners is inappropriate or impossible.

Product Description

Externally, the heat-conducting glue looks like a viscous glue-like mass of a white color of a uniform consistency practically odorless. It is sold in a tube with a screwed plastic cap, which prevents air from entering the tube and allows you to keep the glue in liquid form. At the first use it is necessary to pierce a special protective coating on the nozzle of the tube. When re-used, the cap is easily unscrewed, opening access to the glue.

Adhesive is used to connect quickly heated parts on a heat-conducting radiator.

Advantages of glue

Strength and density during drying also refer to the positive qualities that the "Alsil" heat-conducting adhesive has. Absolute adhesion of the adhesive to the surface provides a reliable connection.

Glue heat-conducting "Radial" is sold in hermetically airtight packaging, which provides protection against drying for a long period of time. Such packaging increases the shelf life of the adhesive. This is very convenient, because you do not have to buy a new tube every time, never using the old one to the end. This is the indisputable advantage of "Radial" compared to products produced by other manufacturers.

According to its technical characteristics, this heat-conducting glue is similar to "Alsil".

To remove the component attached to the radiator with such glue, use a knife: gently pry the necessary part and remove it, then repair or replace it.

Thermally conductive adhesive for radiators has established itself as a reliable and versatile tool for mounting even the most powerful LEDs and other parts.

How to apply heat-conducting glue?

The process of mounting diodes with glue consists of several stages:

  1. Degrease all surfaces with which you will work, using for this purpose alcohol or acetone.
  2. Apply a small amount of heat-conducting adhesive to the surface of the cooled part.
  3. With effort, press the cooled part against the surface and try to do translational circular movements to distribute the adhesive evenly over the entire surface of the cooled part on the radiator.
  4. Fix the pressure for 3-4 minutes for better adhesion.
  5. Allow mixture to dry. The glue hardens after 20 minutes, but complete drying occurs only after 24 hours.

Hotmoke with your own hands?

Create an adhesive compound that conducts heat, even with your own hands. In this article, you will find simple but effective advice on how to make heat-conducting glue yourself, if you do not have a special tool. So, what is suitable for fixing parts to the radiator, without damage to the system (it is important that the thermal conductivity is preserved)?

To obtain a high-strength glue heat conducting, it is necessary to connect 25 ml of glycerin and 100 g of lead oxide. The water from glycerin is evaporated by heating the mixture to a temperature of 200 degrees Celsius. Powder of lead oxide is also heated for several minutes, while maintaining a temperature of 300 degrees Celsius. Only after carrying out such manipulations, components are mixed. The result is a paste-like paste, which is formed by chemical reaction.

Another simple way to attach the diodes to the radiator is to mix epoxy and thermal paste. But there are cases when the use of thermal paste is inappropriate, then it is better to use specially prepared or purchased hot melt.
