Furuncle treatment

Furuncles, carbuncles and furunculosis are diseases of infectious nature. Nowadays, despite the fact that the sanitary and hygienic living conditions and habits of the population are improving, as before, 2/3 of all people from time to time have skin lesions of an infectious nature. They are caused by pathogens, most often staphylococci and streptococci.

Pustular dermatoses are among the most common skin diseases. Their frequency directly depends on the degree of pathogenicity of the infection. Some pyoderma, such as erysipelas, are highly contagious to others, and in children's groups, the disease can take on the nature of an epidemic. Others are not considered contagious, but they can recur after inappropriate treatment or behavior in one person for a long time.

In addition to the infectious agent, the following factors are considered important causes of development of pustular dermatoses:

- other skin diseases in which it is combed and damaged (eczema, scabies);

- Any violations of carbohydrate and hormone metabolism (obesity, diabetes, etc.);

- weak immunity;

- bacterial carrier (for example, Staphylococcus aureus);

- insufficient personal hygiene.

The clinical course of pyoderma is determined, first of all, by the type of pathogen and the depth of penetration into the structure of the skin.

Furuncles and carbuncles refer to deep lesions of the skin of staphylococcal nature. Their main difference is in the prevalence of the purulent-necrotic process.

Single furuncles , or vernacular chiri, arise due to infection of the hair follicle with Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The disease begins with a small inflamed nodule (folliculitis), which gradually develops into a painful cone-shaped infiltrate of bright red color, towering above the skin. As the "ripening" occurs, the tissue melts in it, a central necrotic core forms inside it. The surrounding tissues also become inflamed and swell. After its opening and expiration of pus, the inflammation quickly passes, a scar is formed at the site of the ulcer. Self removal A furuncle is not recommended because of the possibility of spreading the infection throughout the body.

Carbuncles (popular name - fireman, carbon) arise when infection and necrosis affects several hair follicles, which are nearby, with the seizure of subcutaneous fat. The course of the inflammatory process in carbuncle is much heavier than in single chir.

Furunculosis is a chronic condition in which several furuncles are formed simultaneously or over a period of time; In the same area of the body (localized) or in different areas (common).

Foci of inflammation can develop in any part of the skin, where the hair grows, and usually in places where the skin often rubs or sweats (neck, face, axilla, hands, buttocks). Carbuncles usually form on the hips and back of the neck.

These diseases can occur in a person of any age, nevertheless, more often they appear in adolescence and adolescence.

Small furuncles can heal themselves, without additional treatment. To speed up the process, you can use ichthyol cakes. The use of warming compresses is not recommended because of the possibility of local spread of infection and the development of localized furunculosis.

In more serious conditions, with significant inflammatory infiltrate and the symptoms of general intoxication, or the location of a purulent focus in the head (nasolabial triangle, internal nasal passage, ears), one should seek medical help.

In a condition such as a furuncle, treatment is usually conservative, but in extensive processes resort to surgical methods. After the opening of the node, depending on its size, various tactics can be chosen: applying dressings with antiseptic ointments, hypertonic solutions, additional drainage. As soon as the wound is completely cleansed of pus, bandages with healing compounds are prescribed. Often, in order to avoid the development of repeated infections, treatment of a furuncle with antibiotics is required In tablet or injection form. To purify the blood of toxins and to alleviate the general condition, people come to the aid of traditional medicine. It is especially recommended to take dry beer yeast or freshly brewed from hops, as well as various herbal decoctions and vegetable juices:
