Finishing element - seam "back needle"

The world of embroidery is rich in its seams and techniques. Thanks to them, you can create all kinds of masterpieces, which become an ornament of clothes, objects of room design and other accessories. It is only wise to select the technique of embroidery, which will be combined with the main product. In this article, we will analyze in detail the seam "back needle". It is often called a backstick.

This stitch is contour and is used in embroidery to highlight elements and give the picture clarity. They also sometimes replace the sewing machine, combining the two parts among themselves, but now it will be just about embroidery. In his works, it is often used to depict animals with eyes, nose, mouth, in general, all the details that require clarity.

On embroidery schemes, it is usually denoted by a solid line. In such sources, there is always an explanation of what kind of embroidery thread to use and how many layers they should be added. The main point here is the beginning of work only when the thing (or other accessory) is completely ready. And in the best version - after the product has been washed.

Secure the seam "back the needle" at the very beginning, using the usual eyelet. The needle should be taken not thick, which you embroider a cross, but thin and sharp in order not to spoil the ready-made crosses. This technique is considered delicate and delicate, which is why it is necessary to use the same tools for its implementation.

How to correctly carry out the seam "back needle"? First, look carefully at the diagram where this element is present. After we deduce a thread on the front part, but not at the starting point, but slightly retreating in the direction of the drawing (usually one cell of the canvas horizontally, vertically or diagonally). Typically, the fabric is pierced at point 1. After that, insert the needle into the zero point. And output at point 2, which finds at the same distance from 1, as well as 0. It turns out that you embroider, coming back, every time back. When you execute the last stitch, fix the thread on the wrong side to the front of the embroidery in any way known to you.

Another important point is the size of the stitch to choose. If you do not change the direction of the line, that is, for example, it goes strictly horizontally, then you can choose not 1 cell, but more. It is believed that the size of the stitch should not exceed 4 cages, often in the forums of needlewomen share their opinion that the optimum is the length of 3 cells, otherwise the threads begin to sag. But if you have a curved line, then it is better to use only 1 cage.

Be careful and try to fall into the previous stitch, so that the seam is even and without spaces. And also try to tighten the threads evenly. If you notice that it turns out not as it was intended, then it's better to dissolve everything and try again. First, you can get a non-ideal, so first work out in small jobs, and when you shake hands, it will be easy and fast.

As a result, a more accurate and attractive picture is obtained, and another important advantage of this seam is that the inside is also rather neat. Experienced needlewomen sometimes replace the seam "back the needle" with another or alternate it, as there is not always the desire to cut and re-stretch the thread or pull it on the wrong side.

Quite often there are disagreements between needlewomen about the fact that it is necessary to supplement the picture with such strokes or not. Some believe that the color palette of a picture embroidered with a cross is enough. Others are sure that it is simply necessary to revive the composition.
