Danny Rolling: biography of a maniac, details of crimes

Danny Rolling is one of the most famous serial killers in the United States. In the nineties of the last century, he terrified all of Florida.

The public is still shuddering about the violent crimes of a maniac. Newspapers and journalists held Rolling at gunpoint until 2006, until the deadly injection interrupted his life.

Biography

Danny Rolling was born in Louisiana in 1954. His childhood was very difficult. In the afternoon, his father put on a police uniform and served the law, and in the evening he returned home and brutally beat his wife and son. After the birth of Kevin Rolling, the fury of his father began to spread to his younger brother Danny. Mother was not able to change the state of affairs in the family. Several times she left her husband, but invariably returned to the domestic tyrant.

Because of the lack of a normal family, Rolling was brought up by the street. From a young age he was a regular at the local police station. He was constantly arrested for hooliganism and petty looting. This led to the complete marginalization of the guy. He could not adapt in the society, he constantly changed his place of work. For a long time, Danny Rolling was a waiter in a small restaurant.

The beginning of the bloody path

The first murder Danny committed in the eighty-ninth year. The fact that the massacre in the house of the Grissom family was the work of Rolling, the public learned only after his arrest.

However, it was in quiet Shreveport that the mad killer felt the taste of the first blood. Journalists have not been able to find out whether there was a significant connection between Rolling and Grissoms. Investigators also came to the conclusion that Danny committed a terrible crime, led by a pathological thirst for murder.

Murders of the Grissom family

In the evening of November 4, William Grissom invited his daughter and her son to visit. The grandson was only eight years old. About three o'clock in the afternoon Julie Grissom took out a lunch from the oven, which she was never destined to try. The family idyll ended when Denning Rolling appeared on the threshold. He brutally killed all three inhabitants. It is not known whether they tried to resist. Twenty-four-year-old Julie maniac mutilated and, according to some reports, raped. After that, he washed the corpse of the girl and carefully laid in a certain position dictated to him by an insane consciousness. This massacre caused a real shock among the inhabitants of the small Shreveport, where the usual murder caused mass hysteria.

The police and federal agents examined the crime scene several times, conducted a thorough investigation, but did not find any evidence.

In May next year, Danny had a quarrel with her father. The enraged son tried to kill the parent who had spoiled his childhood. This assassination also became known only after the arrest of Rolling.

The Gainesville Ripper

And the killer went on. In the nineties, Rolling arrived in Florida. Intoxicated with impunity after the massacres in the Grissom house, he set a real raid on the small town of Gainesville. Rolling broke into other people's houses and robbed them among the white day. At that moment, Danny felt himself the master of life, controlling the fate of unknown members of society, avenging himself for his rejection. For several days he killed five people. All the victims were students.

During the investigation it became absolutely clear that Rolling's goal was violence, not robbery. Since the frightened victims did not try to prevent him from carrying their property. All five of them he killed with extreme cruelty. Some corpses were beheaded. After the murders, Danny spent hours laying out his body in certain poses, after washing them.

After a series of terrible crimes, police began a large-scale investigation. Initially, these murders did not connect with what happened in Shreveport. And the investigation also did not have significant evidence. Two suspects were arrested. After that, the hunt for Rolling himself began. For some time, the Gainesville Ripper managed to hide in the woods.

Catch and court

Danny Rolling was arrested in November ninety-one. The trial lasted more than four years. As a result, the murderer himself confessed to all crimes. In parallel, the investigation of the massacre in the Grissom house resumed. The Louisiana police drew attention to a similar handwriting of murders. And Danny soon confessed to them. In conclusion, he wrote a book and several letters to the public. In them he shed light on his atrocities.

The famous writer Sondra London visited Danny in prison when she was collecting material for her new novel.

In 2006, Rolling was sentenced to death. On the twenty-fifth of October he, in full accordance with American legislation, ate his last breakfast of shrimp and lobster. After the refusal of the criminal from the last words he was introduced a lethal injection. This was the beginning of the practice of a new type of execution.
