Cystic fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis is considered the most common disease of a genetic nature. This ailment affects the lungs and digestive system, significantly hampering their functioning.

Thanks to the achievements of medicine, the life expectancy of patients has increased. At the same time, women diagnosed with cystic fibrosis are now able to conceive and give birth.

Mild or moderate manifestations of the disease before pregnancy, as a rule, do not influence on health. But severe cystic fibrosis, most likely, will cause complications when carrying a child. They are caused by a disorder of lung function and other disorders associated with pathology. During pregnancy, women experience shortage of breath due to intense cardiac work and changes in blood circulation.

During prenatal period it is important to continue to treat cystic fibrosis in order to maintain digestive and respiratory functions. With a lack of nutrition and oxygen, intrauterine growth may be inhibited and premature birth may occur . It should be remembered that during pregnancy some drugs are contraindicated.

Against the background of pancreatic damage in patients with cystic fibrosis, there is a more frequent development of diabetes mellitus.

The definition of "benign tumor in the mammary gland" is also used, which includes other formations (benign) in this area.

To the cause of the development of pathology, specialists attribute the cumulative process of repeating every month hormonal cycles, accumulation of cells, fluid, foreign substances in the mammary gland. The process begins in the puberty period, and its completion - during menopause. After its onset, the pathology gradually disappears.

As a rule, the disease is typical for both mammary glands. Seldom there is a defeat of one of them. At the same time, a woman can feel her presence in one particular area predominantly. The less affected mammary gland is prone to developing a benign neoplasm over time.

Previously, this pathology was called "fibrocystic disease". However, according to experts, the development of benign lesions in the mammary gland in this case is defined as a condition, not a disease. Thus, today the definition of "fibrocystic mastopathy" is often used in medical practice.
