Convoolex: instructions, preemptions

"Konvuleks" - a therapeutic drug intended for the treatment of epilepsy. This is a serious disease known since ancient times, when it was believed that this disease is sent by the gods as punishment for unjust life.

Today it is known that epilepsy is a chronic brain disease. It can be caused by a variety of causes: genetic, traumatic, infectious. Common symptoms of all types of the disease are periodic recurring epileptic seizures. In the lightest stage, seizures can pass unnoticed for others. The person disconnects for a few seconds from what is happening. The condition can be accompanied by imperceptible twitchings of eyelids, lips. More serious cases are accompanied by cramps, loss of consciousness, biting or tongue laxity, involuntary urination. If the seizures are repeated several times in a row or do not pass for more than half an hour, the patient is given an epileptic status. This is a very serious form of the disease, which may require surgical intervention.

For the treatment of epilepsy the remedy "Konvuleks" is intended. The instruction to the preparation explains that its active substance is Valproic acid, which is capable of exerting a sedative and mioreklassiruyuschee effect. It reduces the excitability of certain areas of the brain and their convulsive readiness. In addition, valproic acid improves the mental state and mood of patients suffering from epilepsy.

"Konvuleks", the instruction explains this in detail, can have several dosage forms:

· Convullex drops for internal administration;

· Capsules;

· Solution-lyophilate for intravenous administration;

· Coated tablets;

· Prolonged-action tablets;

· Convulex-syrup, intended especially for patients of young age.

The drug is used to treat patients with different diagnoses. "Konvuleks", the instruction gives clear instructions on this matter, is intended for:

· Elimination of epileptic seizures caused by various brain injuries;

· Correction of mental and behavioral changes caused by epilepsy;

· Elimination of children's febrile seizures;

· Treatment of manic-depressive psychosis;

· Treatment of Vest syndrome, accompanied by frequent seizures and disturbance of psychomotor development;

· Relief of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

"Convulex", the instruction also contains this information, is contraindicated to a large group of people. It can not be taken by patients suffering:

· Hemorrhagic diathesis;

Renal, hepatic insufficiency;

· Disruption of the pancreas;

· Hepatitis.

Pregnant and lactating drug is not recommended. Children up to three years are prescribed "Convulex" in drops.

It is strictly forbidden to take the medicine without a doctor's recommendation or to violate the prescribed dosage. "Konvuleks" can cause serious adverse reactions. Among them:

· Drowsiness, tiredness, headache, dizziness;

• tremor;

· Hyperactive states, psychoses, motor excitability, hallucinations, increased irritability;

· Encephalopathy, loss of consciousness, stupor, coma;

· Change (decrease or increase) in appetite;

· Pain in the stomach, intestines, vomiting, nausea;

· Hepatitis, pancreatitis, sometimes, in severe cases, with a fatal outcome;

Weight changes, indigestion;

· Allergic reactions, the appearance of bruising, the violation of hematopoiesis.

Invariably, the question arises: is it worth the doctor to prescribe a medicine that can cause such severe adverse reactions? First, the specialist prescribes the drug only after a detailed examination of the patient. Secondly, he is appointed only when the real benefit far exceeds the probable harm. Finally, with strict adherence to dosage and constant medical control, side effects are very rare.
