Cauterization of cervical erosion

Erosion of the cervix is a very common diagnosis that gynecologists put to every second woman. This disease is a defect in the cervical tissue caused by pathological processes of destruction of epithelial cells.

Erosion is diagnosed simply - with a gynecological examination. To diagnose the disease, a method of cytological or colposcopic examination is used. But for the patient, the disease is asymptomatic, so women who rarely visit a gynecologist often do not suspect it.

The main causes contributing to the development of this disease are:

  • Inflammatory process, progressing in the cervix;
  • Dysbacteriosis of the vaginal environment;
  • Hormonal disorders.

In some cases, the cause of this disease is a cervical injury, received during labor.

Due to the prevalence of this disease, many women are not aware of the dangers that it can carry. In advanced cases, erosion leads to the appearance of neoplasms, including malignant ones.

Cauterization of cervical erosion is the most common method of treatment of the disease. This method began to apply in the 18th century, and to this day it belongs to the most popular methods. This method ensures the elimination of the affected area. On the site of erosion, a wound is formed, which is covered with layers of healthy cells. Cauterization of cervical erosion refers to radical methods of combating the disease. This procedure can not be called painless. In most cases, the wound healing process passes without complications. Within a few weeks, sexuality should be excluded and special attention should be paid to personal hygiene.

Many women are wondering: what could be the consequences of cauterization of cervical erosion? It is difficult to answer it unequivocally. In most women, healing takes place quickly and repeated procedures are not required. Some women will have to survive the cauterization of cervical erosion, because after the first procedure, it is not always possible to achieve complete healing. Some women may have spotting, in which case you should immediately contact a gynecologist for an examination and identify the reasons.

A new, but promising method of treating the disease is cauterization of cervical erosion with a laser. This method is more sparing. The main difference and indisputable advantage of this method is its ability to affect only the affected areas, without touching a healthy tissue.

Another advantage of this method is its safety for future delivery, while the usual cauterization often leaves scarring, which negatively affects the procreation process. This means that even the nulliparous women can use this method of getting rid of erosion. The principle of laser therapy is the effect on the affected area of the light flux. Treatment of erosion by the laser is painless and healing occurs quickly enough. However, laser therapy is not used if there is a large lesion of tissue.

In addition, there are alternative ways of treating the disease. These include:

Cryodestruction - freezing of the affected area with the use of liquid nitrogen;

Chemical coagulation - elimination of erosion using aggressive chemical compounds;

Diathermocoagulation - treatment of erosion with the use of electric current;

Radio wave radiation is a new method of getting rid of erosion, which is characterized by absolute painlessness and efficiency.

The main thing in the treatment of erosion is the timeliness of its detection, so you should regularly visit a women's consultation.
