Configuring the torrent

UTorrent is a Windows client for BitTorrent networks, it works perfectly under all versions of Microsoft OS: from Win98 to Windows 7. Its main advantages: small size (about 900 kilobytes in the third version) and very wide functionality embodied in a simple and convenient Interface. It is important to note that uTorrent is absolutely undemanding to resources and works great even on the old hardware. All these advantages together provide uTorrent the first place in the world in popularity. Different studies give the following figures: from 40 to 50 million users from approximately 70 million who used torrent trackers in 2010 chose uTorrent.

Despite the fact that setting up the torrent uTorrent case is quite simple, in most cases it is generally neglected, leaving all options on the conscience of the creators of the program. Nevertheless, practice shows that setting up a client "for oneself" definitely makes sense.

Proper configuration of the torrent uTorrent, in the first place, includes actions to re-assign the paths by which the torrent client will place its working files and downloaded content from the network.

By default, the program stores all the files in its folder on drive C. In addition, that your system disk will be littered with files, it also threatens with such unpleasantness as the exhaustion of the space on drive C, which leads to a slowdown of the system and potentially can cause complete The OS can not be loaded if there are less places left than it needs to run.

In order to prevent such a development of events, I advise you to reassign the directory for storing downloads to the D or E disk, if, of course, you have it.

This torrent setting is located under Settings> Application Settings> Folders> Location of downloaded files.

If you select "D", the path will look something like D: \ Torrents \ Files \.

In the same place, but below, you can change the path for storing .torrent files, that is, files that start downloading content. These files are best stored in a separate directory, in case of any problems they will help you to restore already made downloads.

They can be placed at the address "D: \ Torrents \ Files \ Torrent_files".

With the location of the content files, we sorted out, you can move on to other items, for example, to the most interesting for any user - to increase the download speed.

In the menu "Settings> Application settings> Folders> Speed" there are several items that directly affect how fast and in which modes the download of the selected content will take place.

Setting the speed of the torrent is to change the value of the "Maximum number of connections", here we insert the number 128.

In the field "Maximum connected peers per torrent" it is recommended to set the digit 16.

In the "Number of downloads per torrent" cell, you can put the number 4-8 depending on the speed of your connection to the network.

After the torrent adjustment in the speed section is completed, you can go to the Caching menu "Settings> Application Settings> Folders> Advanced> Caching".

The upper options can be skipped, they do not interest us, just look down. Here, the torrent setting is hidden under various caching options for the record, but my advice to you is to disable this caching of the record altogether. If you leave it on (especially for those who do not have enough RAM), after a while the computer starts to slow down and even hang because of a lack of RAM, in which uTorrent has scored its cached data.

That's all the basic settings that should be changed when installing the uTorrent client, if you wondered what other options not described in this material affect-I suggest you look for their description on the network, there are plenty of articles on this topic.

And finally, a small remark as a warning tip - do not download uTorrent from incomprehensible sources, download it only from the site of the manufacturer utorrent.com
